Yea our sft built it today so I finally saw it. We thought we were getting a full station. I hope we don't have to take shelves off since the mini station will be about 15 feet away from main station.
Well the instructions from redwire said to take down the old shelves and recycle them... I looked at my PMT and said yeah we're not doing that. I think the idea was for the bubble wrap to go above the regular packing station. But it's a stupid idea.

We already got bubble wrap above regular station and putting another one over the mini station

How does the bubble wrap fit over your current pack station? We have 439/413/126 boxes on the top shelf and it is just a few inches below the steel above it.

Ah ok. Ours is under a section of steel that's 2 pallet spaces wide, so there's not much room. We put the new bubble wrap holder in place of the old one directly next to the pack station.

We have space for the bubble wrap underneath the packing station. It's suspended on a rod like a roll of TP so it's easy to unroll.

Also, I think this holiday season is going to be an absolute nightmare for SFS , at least at our store. We're going up to 750 orders soon, and shooting up to 1500 not long after that and boy are we not prepared. Apparently we're hiring 30 seasonal TM's dedicated for SFS, which is pretty insane. We're gonna be scheduled in 3 shifts, so we'll be a 24 hour operation. We currently have 4 packing stations, and it seems like the plan is to have 2 people to a packing station (we have 4 stations) during almost all hours of the day, with 1 person dedicated to clearing the belt, one person to move the pallets over to the trailer, and another to load the trailer while the remaining people are picking. That all sounds good, but I don't even think that we'll have enough space to handle it all. Furniture makes up a good chunk of our orders, and I don't see any way that we'll be able to even fit that amount of furniture in our SFS area. If we have to try and find space for 300-400+ pieces of furniture, the entire system will break down.

Since our SFS area is near receiving and the unloading dock, I'm afraid that all of the SFS overflow is going to hurt the overnight team too which will then cascade into absolute mayhem throughout the store. Right now, our FFTL is worried that a daily 54 foot trailer from UPS won't even be enough to handle the amount of orders we'll be taking in. Even now at 325 orders, we have a daily trailer with UPS (not nearly as large, of course, but it's definitely not 4.5 times smaller than a 54 foot trailer) so he's thinking that we might actually need to arrange to have two trailers picked up each day. A 54 ft trailer during the day, picked up around 5-6pm, which would then be replaced by a smaller trailer for the orders packed during the overnight shift. That trailer would get picked up in the morning and replaced with the 54 footer.

Our store is going to start the SFS sometime next month. We currently have one person trained on it, and then another person who did it at a previous store. I'm not sure why they thought it was good to start us on this right as the holidays are kicking in. I offered to learn how to do it, but they said they will probably wait a bit to do so.

I'm guessing this is going to be a disaster. Wish they would train current TMs who were willing to do it, but they'll probably hire in new people to do it and with my stores track record on hiring, we will be getting crap people in.

@Firefox I'd assume most of the increased orders will be things like toys and home goods that are traditional Christmas gifts.

For your trailers do you just put the entire pallet onto the trailer or do you load it box-by-box (like the RDC trailers)? If the RDC can fit 2500 pieces onto a trailer (including some pipo), I bet you guys can do it too.

They're adding it now because they need the extra capacity at this time of year. And yes, it will probably still be a disaster for the brand new SFS locations to go up to 300 orders per day in a month. We did 300 orders max last year when we had already had SFS for a year and a half...and we were still unprepared.

On our busiest days, we're set to go up to 1100 this year. We've had SFS about a year now. We struggle with the 150 orders we have now. Absolutely crazy.

Right now we just load everything onto the natural wood pallets and chuck 'em onto the trailer, but I don't know if we'll be able to make it work at 1500 orders. It would certainly be easier and quicker, but we'll see. The main reason why we're worried about the increase in furniture is that we were warned by our DTL to prepare for a huge amount come the order increase. We have a very large backroom compared to other stores from what I understand, so we have a lot of space for bulk steel. So we are the main store in our district for online furniture, since we're able to accommodate so much of it.

Yeah unfortunately you guys are probably going to have to start stacking the trailer box by box to make it work. There might still be a page with tips on how to do that under the ESFS section of workbench.

I don't even know how you're going to deal with it on weekends, unless you have 4 receiving docks and can convince UPS to drop off two trailers for the weekend.

The funny thing is that we do actually have 4 receiving docks. However, even during our slowest time of year we have a GM trailer parked in the first two bays pretty much at all times (first empty or ready to be unloaded that night, the second for the sweep) and with the UPS trailer in bay 4 we only have bay 3 open for vendor deliveries. So that means that we can't actually even have two UPS trailers, so I have no idea how the hell we are going to manage weekends at 1500 orders when we're likely to fill up the largest trailer that they can provide in one day.

This is not going to be a jolly holiday season for us.

So I guess Target.com is starting ship from Store to store now lol... i had two STS orders that I packed today.. everyone was shocked because we never had any before. So idk if we got the order because DC didn't have the items or because we are closer to the stores than DC.

I thought that that was already a thing? I might be wrong, but I was under the impression that we were already packing STS orders.

It might be but our store never had one before... usually all our orders are shipped to guests house. Honestly I thought we would have more since we have online only items but nope.

Thanks for mentioning this. I came across a collate for STS while working alone a few days ago. I mentioned it to our SFS captain today and he never heard anything about this. One tm said I should not have packed/shipped that order. Glad I did. I'll have to mention that to the rest of our SFS crew.

Yeah no problem... im sure we will see a lot more of those to make up for the orders stores are losing due to the launch of so many new SFS

We are a non SFS store, and we receive orders from other stores for pickup. We have for some time.

Yeah we started noticing that his week as well. A lot of them have been local, going to the other Target in our town or nearby areas.

Those were probably regular STS orders fulfilled by an actual fulfillment center. If you don't have SFS, you shouldn't be able to tell the difference between an order fulfilled from a store and an order fulfilled from a real fulfillment center.

So our backroom SRTL just announced today that he'd like us ship from store folks to also handle SPU orders for 4th quarter. I don't know how we're going to survive.

That one was actually a directive from corporate. He should be designating a TM to handle that each day by adding an SPU tag to their shift on the printed schedule.

I would say it won't be that bad, but I'd be lying. We had some days last year where the designated SPU person had to ask for help because there were too many dropping in too fast to be able to complete them by the goal time.

I doubt this will happen. SFS at my store is an unorganized cluster f*ck. No one gives a crap about it, except us tms.

My Backroom team don't really give a damn because they think it's the SFS job to do it. Umm, no it's not. It's our job to do it.

Can't blame them though. With 5hr shifts, there's so much they expect us to finish.
