Ours got turned on today and from what I was told by the GSTL it was quite a mess.
TMs who forgot the training from 2 months ago, Guests getting upset that they couldn't just swipe their card, Guests who didn't like having to leave the card in the reader, guests who had no clue what there pin was, Transactions taking twice as long and as such causing most of the salesfloor TMs to spend the majority of their day backing up.... Never been so glad to be in one of the few posts where I couldn't back up.

Yikes. I'm so excited for ours to turn on! As if guests aren't bitchy enough...

I think our turn-on date is being delayed. We (front-end) were supposed to get trained this week, but the training has mysteriously disappeared from the schedule...

Ours went live today as well. Only two in the district went live for testing...

...The noise to tell you it's a chip card is obnoxious. You heart it once to insert, once to remove. You heart it several more times if the guest can't stick it in right. A couple registers crashed, but the ones I got stuck on for ages went fine.

It takes longer to think through all transactions now. Redcard savings doesn't show till right before the receipt prints, not right after total like before.

Oh wow. I worked last night and ours still weren't on so maybe we won't be one of the stores that tests it.

What's really weird is the readers at Starbucks are active and work fine... but no where else.

Did Starbucks have some rules about it?

Hah, ours was just the opposite. Didn't let them swipe cards-although not sure if it was guest side or cashier side swiping...

Anyone know if we can change the Damn noise? It's scary and if you don't pull the card out when it says it does it repeatedly until you do...ugh.

It went live for us today. What a nightmare. So many guests angry that they had to insert the chip. I had one guest say she thought the chip on her new debit card was "just for decoration." America is really behind.

Did anyone else feel like the training for this was utterly pointless? I didn't learn anything new that I didn't already know by just making transactions at places that are chip enabled. So how do receipt look ups work for this? Can we still swipe the cards like normal? Or do the guests insert them? Also, how exactly does this prevent unauthorized use of cards? Do we have to check for IDs now? I was told the guests will be able to swipe their IDs for age restricted items now. So we don't have to take their ID's we just look at them.

At guest service you hit a couple keys and the guest swipes the card, for ID you can still scan it but swipe? Good question my state doesn't use a mag strip. We only have scan bar codes on ours.

Got a bit of info at a huddle today. Chip an pin is officially rolling out August 17, Redcards with chip and pin are being reissued starting today.
