Why is there so much food and beverage??? This stuff will not sell enough to justify the amount we are getting from the DC. I'm going to try and have vendors just front their stuff. I do not have room in the back to store their stuff when it all comes down March 1. Such a waste of productivity. Feel sorry for grocery team that will have to backstock all this.

Maybe give it a few years? Retail seems to be trying to make the super bowl into another holiday. If they succeed that will be sales (and for us schmucks hours) during a usually slow time.
Look at Day of the Dead. What started as a "what is this?!" Is now a big seller and getting a little bigger each yr with more and more people getting into it where I work. Day of the Dead seemed to do so well they tried selling Diwali merch too last yr.
So keep posted and keep backstocking till it works or they give it up😂

I've told my vendors not to pack it out. I'm not looking forward to the amount of crap that I'll have coming back anyways. Like even the small amount that they need to bring in to even make the shelves look halfway decent is gonna mean there is a ton of backstock. Like Red Bull does not need feet of shelf space.

Preach. I was trying to do the same until that Hq order with Pepsi came in that's mixed in with regular order. Then Red Bull supervisor talked to the my lead. This is after I explained my reasoning for limiting what comes in.
It's amazing how my bosses what me to hold vendors responsible but they will accept anything they want to bring in even if it's not on any type of planogram. Don't even limit to a small amount to see how it will sell. Sometimes it's a vendor we won't even see again.

Tried to tell my vendors the same. Word somehow got to the SD and she ended up chewing my ass out for it.

Okay then bitch, you can come back to process the credits in march and listen to all the vendors whine about it then 🙄

Welp, it looks like my Red Bull vendor will be writing up at least 400 pieces for credits. They packed out every shelf of 12 pks plus their normal bulk endcap and have maybe sold 20 pieces from there at most.

I was told today that my district did very poorly with the sales. Store Director told me our vendors will be notify that they will have to issue credits. Next year just go straight to lawn and garden.

The best part will be when stores set ODL before the Super Bowl and therefore lose the one week Gameday will sell.

Alot of the items in GameDay are not items people would buy for Super Bowl parties. The entire area was just too big. We got that whole aisle of Frito Lay and then 3 pipo shippers. Best thing that selling is the oreos.

What you haven't heard of the famous Red Bull and Monster Casserole? (I mean Hotdish...I've lost my Minnesotan vocab)
