Price checker becomes your friend. Most of my checkers, you can input the dpci & get your answer in or out of stock.. The merch button is useless right now.
On our scanners, the ability to type in DPCI's doesn't work. We can't access it.

Oh hell no. Play the rat and get your STL involved.

At my store for some reason CASHIERS decide they need MyDevices and Walkies and we're always out... wtf? Cashiers do NOT need them.

One day I decided I'd go up to one who was on a lane waiting for someone to walk in and she had a MyDevice and a Walkie and I went up to her and asked if she was using them and if not if I could have at least her walkie.
Her response?
"Sorry, they might put me out on Hardlines today, you just never know. I'm off in an hour anyways so I'll give it to you then."

.... seriously lol. I wish I was joking when I say at least 1/4 of my cashiers feel the need to either grab a walkie and/or a mydevice. Just.. why? When management asks why there isn't any equipment, lets take a look at our cashiers lol.

I can make the argument for the Self Checkout TM having a MyDevice and Walkie and for at least 1 CL TM having a Walkie. But they should be ready to give it up when asked. Or maybe Spot shouldn't be so cheap and have enough equipment for all TMs. I know at least at the Walmart down the road there's enough TC180 (or whatever their called) to throw in the air. And all employees take their walkies home.

Target has become so damn cheap it makes me sick.

I love this post. I could see how not having a mydevice in softlines or electronics is a nightmare but working health and beauty without takes forever. You have a 3 oz jergins lotion, you have to ask yourself does this go in the home location or in the travel section? Also trying answering a furniture call without a mydevice. We have it on display so it means we carry it in store, right? In my store " Its for a guest" means nothing....

Target needs to invest in equipment so their employees (sorry, TEAM) can effectively do their jobs. It boggles my mind that that is such a foreign concept to them. How is it a team anyway, when people have to scrounge for a device? The equipment room should be divided by work center with each one having its own hub of devices, pdas, walkies, etc. You work flow? Get your shit from flow and sign it out. POG? Ditto.

What happens is at my store flow sucks up every piece of equipment, doesn't sign anything out and then the ETL/TLs play dumb like no one on their team has anything. Of course when they leave most of the equipment is dead.

Maybe if they could actually come clean on a truck for once it wouldn't be so goddamn annoying, but no, everyday is a huddle to push freight for them.

Man I would love your electronics lmao

I come in like

boy I hope I get a walkie
oh man I hope there's a Mydevice or PDA
shit I have to close by myself and have 4 hours to zone and pray toys doesn't look like a tornado hit
oh welp looks like I have to do this domestics CAF lol fuck

As Signing Spec, the day I don't get a walkie... that... that day will be glorious. I hope this happens to me sometime, either that or I'll be able to shout "Put a Work Order in" for everytime I am requested.

I challenged my ETL-Log to a "Call-Off" bahah, sorry I love a good pun, to see who got called on more, him as the LOD, or myself. Since that day, I have noticed that the amount of "^%$#@% in Signing" call-outs have been much less.

As a past Hardliner I understand the angst, especially with no equipment

Helped an old woman and old man today while picking a flex, reconnect their smart phone to cartwheel. She could not figure out why it wouldnt connect to the server, (she didnt have any data left) so i helped her put it onto the "guest wifi" connected fine, she was very grateful and he looked like he was ready to gtfo of the store haha

I stopped asking older gentlemen "CIHYFS" simply because I always knew it would always end with "Ya, my Wife".

We had a lot of callouts today so I got asked to help hardlines. I am so glad its over. How do you guys do your job with no equipment?

Reshop I looked like a n00b using the end of aisle scanner and I got yelled at for not backing up when I dont even have a walkie!!! And everytime you get on a roll someone ask you if you can help them find a certain type of Christmas item.

I use to think hardlines was one of the easier positions in the store. I really admire the work you guys put in.

Do you not get your own HR walkie? I have my own walkie, charger and extra battery in my office.

Lol we dont have enough equipment for that. I only get a walkie when I cover the phone for our fitting room tms meal.

I actually dont mind not having a walkie. Helps me avoid doing backup calls, I know you get to backup guest service but I am not trained there so I can only cashier.

Thankfully my ETL HR just text me when she needs something.

Order yourself one on SAP :p.
Ask to be trained at the service desk! I love working at the service desk or covering for the GSA. Helps me get hours as well. Right now I get my full 40 hours in HR but that will change pretty soon. Our GSTL lets me pick up hours at the service desk and Cash Office.

I was offered to train cash office! Let me know how it goes. Sounds like 15 easy hours. My HR hours are supposed to go down in January as well (we have two HRTMs) so that might be where I pick up.

Service desk is weird at my store. We typically have two GSAs open and one always gets service desk rather than a cadhier TM. We only have non GSAs close service desk so it doesnt sound as appealing to me.

Cash Office was confusing the first couple of days but once I had it down, I started enjoying it. It's just you in an office and cash lol. And because you don't have your own walkie, you won't be interrupted ;). 2-3 hours of silence for you! Most stores allow you to play music in the C/O.
Take them up on their offer!
Closing Guest Service shifts aren't bad, I actually prefer them over opening GS shifts lol.
