What a crappy crazy busy day. This is my only unavailable day but because someone else needed the day I took the shift.

We had 3 TMs and me this morning. I got the cull and QMOS done, SDAs, TPCs, meat re weighed, floor filled and helped take in the truck. Huddle and my first 15 was in there also. When I got to the freezer and cooler to park the pallets I found ALL racks in both freezer and cooler full of backstock in each so no empty racks for new back stock. I decided to help get the cooler and freezer pushed. After that was done I took lunch then jumped on pro and meat, got it pushed all bcoded and back stocked. If I didn't it wouldn't have gotten done proven by the back stock in the cooler and freezer. I got my pro and meat donations put away, swept up and ran for reshop. I did not get that done or the zone. So glad I did not have to do an order today.

I always worry and feel guilty when the team lead calls and asks me to come in. And sometimes, yeah, I'm fine with coming in, especially if it is a short shift, but I get irritated when I get like 2-3 calls a day from Target wanting to know if my one day off I can work or not..8-9 hr shifts. I am greatful for the hours and I am happy they ask around.. But on my days off I don't like to sit at home and do nothing or I would rather be anywhere than at work for just the day or two I get a week. Helps me with stress.

But yea, out of all the times I've been guilt-tripped into wanting to come in on my day off, I rarely do when I have something important to do.

I've had to explain to my HR many times that I work another job, so when I'm not available, I'm not available.

You decide to take shift against your availabllity. Take it & Keep the money.

Oh I took it and am great full for the money but if this is the way this day is scheduled all the time and the way the truck is pushed on this day I can understand why I come in to unfinished push, backstock and a crappy zone. Does not make me want to cover this shift again but it does help me understand

Two weeks ago, my TL asked me if they wanted to work a shift on a Wednesday. I said between Target and my other job, I need time for myself and I can't. A few days later, my ETL asked me. I said the same thing to him and he said "I understand." That Wednesday, they called me. I didn't even pick up the phone.

I'd never thought I'd say I would be happy with 15 hours.

Sometimes it feels like they think we're just sitting by our phones in red and khaki just waiting to get called in on our days off.

I am the last one to defend ETLs, but in this case you really can't blame the ETLs.

When I was a GSTL back in the day, it was common practice to call/ask if people wanted an extra shift. Back then, every ETL/TL could ask a TM if they wanted to do this. Honestly, we had so many TMs on payroll, it was damn near impossible to remember who wanted what. In other words, Tom might be willing to work an extra shift on Tuesdays. Sarah maybe Friday/Saturday shifts. Wendy maybe any day during the week, but only between certain hours. And then to make it worse, none of that is constant. People quit/get 2nd jobs, quit/go to school, etc. So you never know where anyone is in life.

I know back then a lot of TMs got pissed at me when I asked/called them because they had already told me no to certain times/days before.... but honestly, I just didn't remember.

In other words, it's just too much to keep up with. I don't think your ETL is trying to harass you about it.... it's just that he probably doesn't make the effort to commit peoples preferences to memory simply because it's just too much to keep up with.

I don't like coming in on a day off, but if I've got nothing planned then I don't mind helping out. Usually I'm at or very near 40 hours, so I don't usually get called.

At my store, HR is in charge of calling people in. I think the reason TMs get pissed about it is because HR has the ability to check their availability before calling them. My old HR TL used to "forget to check my availability" and try to call me in on the one day of the week that I had zero availability. I told her every time that I had class all day and couldn't come in, but she still didn't get the hint.
