I'm losing it, guys, gals, and nonbinary pals.

I started in Softlines way back when we used to open every single checkout lane on Black Friday, had locking display cases for jewelry, and there was an actual human being who answered and transferred calls for the whole store. When doing closing shifts lasting as late as 2am finally got to me, I tried to sneak into becoming a Starbucks team member but was yoinked by the Deli Team Lead at the time. That worked out well enough, but I quickly had my eye on moving over the the Bakery. It took years, but I finally snuck my way in. Baking shifts are my most sane. Cake decorating is the most fun. But the hour cuts.

The hour cuts. That's why I'm back here. Because I feel like I'm going crazy, being pulled in too many directions because I know how to do too many things. I love my TL. My ETL has too many things on his plate. The SD only says anything when the shelves are empty, and then it's cause for panic. But somehow it's too much of an ask to hire and actually train more people. I think my store has nearly reached the point in the spiral where there's no recovering unless corporate actually allows my store to give people the number of hours they want, hires more people, and actually gives us the hours to train them properly.

Is this the beginning of the end of my time at Target? Maybe! I'm starting to hope so.

First of all, welcome back @Deli Ninja. Always, always have your resume updated as no one ( I don’t care 🤷🏾‍♂️ who you are) job is safe. Leadership changes and the work has to get done. Expect more, pay less is not just a slogan, it’s Target 🎯 way of telling the world 🌍 “I’m a jack of all trades…”. But a master of none. Pick your battles. I too have returned to 🎯, but only as an On Demand team member (One of the few things that came out of COVID-19). Since you have a heart for cooking 🧑‍🍳, why don’t you look for something more related to your field of expertise. Just spitballing. Good 👍🏾 luck. You’ve always been resilient, so I know you’ll weather the storm ☔️

Hours get worse every year, if your getting hours by moving around just take it. If the area your scheduled in is declining it isn't your problem. Go to work, do your best, and leave it at the door on the way out. Let your leads stress about the shit storm left behind.
Im am one of those people that always stressed too much about making everything the best it could be, but learning to flip that switch has made my time at spot much more enjoyable.
