Talk to HR and your TL/ETL about it. I didn't go out of state but the ETL-LOG/STL put in some good words for me where I transferred in-state to where I just showed up for work when they told me to.

Absolutely you can transfer. Talk to your HR person and your TL about it. We've had several TMs who work for a different Target during the school year, then work at my store during the summer.
You might not be in your same work center though - depends on where the other store has openings.
