Are you talking about the VM? If it's not, they're not making a high paygrade than any other TM...We have one... they don't actually do anything except make more money than all of the other ex-specialists who still actually work

The VM is responsible for a lot more than signing.
Yes, I am... we've had two. One during the title change and one currently... And even though they are responsible for more than just signing ours have done nothing but walk around the store chatting with people all dayAre you talking about the VM? That’s such a Negative thing to say about someone, are you with them for the whole 8hrs? Just because you see someone walking doesn’t mean its without purpose.Yes, I am... we've had two. Yeah I'm aware of the old op model, but I was referring to how it hasn't been a thing since store mod, so they'd likely be referring to the VM.The Signing Specialist Goes way way back.
They hired me as one and promptly got rid of the position about a year later.

Tedious and non-stop, for the TMs as well. Style is literally never caught up. Reshop and zone are constant. This is so true, I was a merchandise specialist for softlines back then (before VM was a thing) and style is much more work than I'd imagine. Props to VMs, it can be quite tidious work.
Yeah, I had a Hardlines TL (back in the day) tell me how much harder it was because of lifting heave items. I told him to walk around for 8 hours with 15 pounds of clothes on his hip and get back with me.Tedious and non-stop, for the TMs as well. Style is literally never caught up. We have so much signing that we can't find when setting the POG. And later when it shows up, it never gets put up because no time. Eventually it ends up in the baler. We need a signing person or the hours to deal with all of it. Also, I wish the barcode on the outside of the ISM box was scannable.
We have signing pallets all over the back room. AP ETL told me store pays for that shit. We have a new VM who maybe works or maybe not. I think any holiday signs that are up are hung by the loooooooong suffering presentation person.
I feel your pain. Ours is also getting out of control. We were able to get caught up with most of the signing, but our fixture room is turning to shit. With nonstop transitions and little hours, plus style taking over part of hardlines makes it harder to maintain.
Only thing the SD in the store I work at would do with it anyway is to give it to the etl who would leave it on their desk for two weeks then give it to the TL who would leave in their area for a month then give it to a tm to do.I've seen boxes that said ATTN STL fairly recently. It made me giggle.
Shhh! when HQ reads that they won't give stores more hours but they will make ISM a huge stinky deal when group and region visit. We have so much signing that we can't find when setting the POG. Our does sort and will take care of vm related signs. Except for focal related gm just sets around.VM is supposed to own sort of signing pallets.
