Hi,

I just received an offer to start working at Target, and I filled out all the forms and background checks, but got an email saying I'm no longer considered for the position. Am I actually no longer considered or could this be a mistake? My application is still active in the candidate page.

Is there anything in your background check that could cause them to take away the job offer. I would call the Hr team lead.

Best guess is that it is an administrative thing. Sometimes they source applicants through a single posting, but then actually hire them in a different one. That care trigger a turndown for the original posting even though you're being hired in the new posting. Definitely call HR to verify, however!

Call HR and ask what's up. When I was the hiring manager for a home care agency, I hired someone as a caregiver contingent upon their background check coming through as clear. It did not so I had to rescind the offer. (Turned out the applicant lied on their application about being convicted of or under investigation for a felony. No way could we have someone going into a vulnerable person's home with a history of violence toward other people on their record. And it was recent, not something decades past.)

Not saying that happened in your case. But definitely call HR. There could be an error on your background report, especially if your name is somewhat common or maybe there's a mix-up in some other way. Can happen on credit reports too.

Call the store HR, may have been a mistake. OP do you have ANYTHING on your record that would trigger observation short of minor traffic bullshit? Curious, do they run Trans Unions or FICO's? Both of mine are well into the low 800s and appeared when adjusting my car insurance policy. Considering how many asshole drivers there are on the road. best medicine to go full tort.
