Promoting/ ETL positions

Recent communication quoted a certain number of TLs that have moved into ETL roles this year so far.
Although I know there are various reasons for an ETL position to open up, I can’t help but think that it’s due to the struggling company, unrealistic standards, and low raises.

All this to say, it has lead to many ETL openings as well. As someone who has been weary of promoting, (and adamant that I would rather leave Target than be an ETL), I would love to hear thoughts from those who have moved from TL or VM to ETL.
What ETL positions do you think are most desirable? Most challenging?

Thoughts on HR ETL since it is the only one not directly running a sales floor team and freight?
Beginning to wonder if HR ETL could give me enough job experience to eventually leave retail.

Are there any ETLs out there not worked to the bone with long hours?

Thanks in advance!

Funny. I promoted from Tl to Etl inbound and even tho I had payroll to schedule in my department I still worked 12-14h days.
12 Etl’s in the building but I was the only Etl overnight therefore the standards for me was totally different from the other Etl’s, the expectation for me was I have a closed store therefore I had to be in everyone’s department once push was done.

I left Target over a year ago , recently my inbound Tl reached out to me to say he was offered Etl position and I strongly suggested that he is better of with his 39$ an hour than being Etl due to the long hours he would have to put in.
You could end up working 45-50h a week or more and still get paid for 40h no matter what.
