Stores not permitting guests 18 and under without adult supervision

Our store has banned all guests under the age of 18 from coming in even if supervised and I personally love it.

As an employee, our store has had MAJOR issues with teenagers, including them being rude , trashing the store, messing with merchandise, pulling pranks, playing sports, skateboarding, and just being disruptive.

I wish more Target stores would ban guests under the age of 18 coming come in

I certainly wouldn't mind it at my store! Unruly kids are the main people who try to steal at my store or cause problems

There’s also a store close to my location that requires anyone under 18 to be with an adult. Mine doesn’t allow them in at all.

The Walmart in my area requires anyone under 18 to be with an adult. I mean when I shopped I saw some issues with teenagers messing around too so it’s fine.

Before my store introduced this policy kids ran amok everywhere and the store was like their playground. It was insane.

No more since anyone under 18 got banned from the store. Teens also were saying slurs to older shoppers for fun.

I personally have no problem with older shoppers in my store, I only occasionally get rude older people but probably get just as much rude middle aged adults as I do get older adults, if not more.

I’d personally love more 18+/21+ Targets. Young adults (18-21) also tend to cause problems at Target locations but I don’t think it’s fair to ban them from stepping foot inside the store since they’re legal adults but I do kick them out regularly for disruptive behavior as they often shoplift and are rude. 90% of the rude adults who come into my store are college aged kids, not older adults. Most of the young adults aren’t throwing balls or skateboarding in the store like teenagers but a lot of them I get in shoplift and are rude to staff. My Target is close to a university so I do get problems with young adults.

Middle school kids running their friends around in a Caroline's cart, making it unavailable for those who needed it, high school girls riding around on the electric carts with their Starbucks drinks until the carts' batteries die (usually in the back of the store), skate rats stealing soda cups & refilling them over & over before pouring them out somewhere on the salesfloor or on a display, older boys ripping open & loading Nerf guns & having battles in the aisles til they're bounced, others pulling down smaller kids' bikes & riding them down the back aisles, kids taking playground balls & trying to toss them over the headers into the next aisle (hitting smaller kids & being confronted by angry dads), moms buying their kids tons of pizzas/hotdogs/pretzels/other messy foods & leaving them in the dining area to start a food fight while mom is off shopping - all while cutting staff & AP.
This is why I hate summers.

So is your store requiring Ids upon entering the store? Or how does that work.
Because my teenager would easily pass as someone over 18 even tho is not.

In my location, onlt about 20% of the college kids I get in are rude and shoplifting, that’s still kind of often but a lot of them aren’t. I don’t have nearly as much problems with adult shoppers of any age as I do with kids. But 80% of college kids I get I are good the reason why I said a lot is I get a lot more rude college kids than rude older adults. I did kick out a college kid today for shoplifting

As for older adults, some are a bit rude. I just get bad young adults a lot more than bad boomers. Most boomers in my store, in my opinion, aren’t really that bad. Some get confused but most aren’t like rude. Don’t see too many problems with the older shoppers. I rarely get older adults acting out in public.

Most of my bad shoppers were teenagers before the policy was introduced our store is next to a college and there’s a high school nearby.

Sure, when there were teenagers running amok I had some baby boomers get mad because of it, but who likes a store being treated as a playground? Like I think this older woman I got in once at the store had the right to tell the teenagers to shut up when my store allowed teenagers.

Burgerjob61 is a troll who was banned. There is absolutely no Target location that bans all minors. There are only those that ban unaccompanied minors.

Although that policy would be nice, it would reduce my sales as I have lots of young children and teens at my store. At my store there are parents shopping with their young kids to get diapers, home goods, and groceries. And there are teens buying a snack or clothes. Honestly I see more teen-related issues at my nearby Walmart than the Target.

I’m fine with how my Target is I don’t have that many issues with teens tbh. I do occasionally get teens putting shaving cream on things or being loud.

Happens on a monthly basis usually.
