I think there are other methods of parenting that are better than policing what your kids wear (within reason). Talking to your kids and being involved in their lives goes so much further.

I feel like telling young women that they can't wear something just gives credence to the "slut culture" that everyone always declares a double-standard.

If the kids are minors, it's good to get the kid's feedback but the parent should still have final say whether or not EITHER kid is gonna dress like a skank or thug.
Now if the PARENTS dress like that, they don't have a leg to stand on.
And once kids are 18 & paying for their own clothes, they can dress as they like.
Just my 2 cents.
