Just so everyone knows, unions are only helpful to unions. I'll pass on paying money to an organization to theoretically represent me.

I’d rather pay money for someone to fight for my best interests at a company than just rely on the pinkey swear by the CEO with a yacht and a vacation house in Hawaii. Also, you mean to tell me that you think the police union, teachers union, UPS union and so on don’t represent their members?Just so everyone knows, unions are only helpful to unions. They can’t be one and the same? They fight for their best interest, not yours.

Nobody at Spot will fight for your best interests, that’s for sure...I’d rather pay money for someone to fight for my best interests at a company than just rely on the pinkey swear by the CEO with a yacht and a vacation house in Hawaii.
Are you impacted by the Govt shutdown?I am a federal employee and belong to a public service union. Without said union we would be in hard straits. Our Agency always try to violate the master agreement in some way and without the union we would have no representation or time to fight the unfair practices. Remember when Trump pulled his EO actions back in May (that were overturned and declared against US law)? That was due to actions by, you guessed it, UNIONS. Without them we in the public sector would be totally screwed.
I have union health insurance and am damn grateful. I don't pay any premium for it...NOT A PENNEY.
I have a $300 deducible. Once that's met, I owe 10% of the negotiated charges. I have family members seeing therapists for $6-$7 a session. I have the option to go to the preferred clinic where I don't have a copay. At the clinic I can see a doctor or chiropractor, have labs or x-rays or have a physical therapy appointment and not pay a dime.
This is available to me due to having a union negotiate these benefits. I can't imagine how much lighter my bank account would be without this insurance.
Because ir doesn't work. Simple as that.I personally don’t get why some of you guys don’t want to unionize.
Yeah, maybe Covered California makes me less appreciative of this.

Ask yourself this. If someone offered to pay all your bills and food expensives for a year no strings attached and all you have to do is work for entertainment, would you quit your job?
Most people would. Some wouldn't for varying reasons.
Unions don't work not because the idea is invalid but because its can't be done correctly. Human nature will interfere everytime. This is why you have car factory members making $45 hr.
The brutal truth is the job at target if done correctly and without idiots constantly trying to make themselves look good, isnt work $15 an hr. Everything is way to over priced. I mean everything.
I could go on and fill up two pages in actual detail about the purpose of Unions was 19th century and by and large mostly dont serve a good purpose today. If actually responsible people actually mantained they company and did was what needed (ie actually fired asshats instead of casting a blind eye, crap like what NRV constantly wouldnt happen.
But They dont so it continues on
Here is what will happen:
A union will accelerate the death of this company.
No union will allow it to continue in its spiral of failure.
None of us here want to see Target in 2035 in the same straights that Sears is in now. Now one in 1995 believed that Sears would be completely dead in 2019. Yet it is.
So to sum up (and end my rambling) unions increase the cost of consumer goods with out passing out benefits. Any good gained by unions in the 21st century is rare, and only used to off set govt failures that if 100% of the people voted would vanish.
If you believe a Union is good for anyone, you dont understand human nature, the desire for contol of environment and basic fiscal policy. Its not about capitalism or socialism. Its about perception.
Its overpriced crap. You name your place there is a lower cost place that has better quality food. Go there.I don't see Kroger going through job eliminatio- oops, I mean "modernization". Just saying.
I agree. OP is one of those who doesn't understand how things work because they weren't taught how to work with people. You wont always win. You won't always lose. And yes there are people you will have to put up with and you cant do a damned thing about.you know it's bad when you literally don't even have the support of your own store
I said it before and I'll say it again. In my opinion, for all we like to complain about Target, they actually treat us pretty well. Obviously like any retail job there are bad apple managers, but on the whole, we're paid nearly double the national minimum wage, get relatively good benefits, and if you make it past 90 days and show up to work and do your job, you have pretty great job security. Target is not the company to unionize.
What concerns me most about OP is their consistent unwillingness/inability to take feedback.
Or it was closed and they decided to move it because that building needed to be renovated so it was opened elsewhere with a new team.Nrvstrike, again with a new name. He must of gotten kicked out of his store.
Target Found Guilty Of Violating Worker Rights - https://www.thebreakroom.org/threads/target-found-guilty-of-violating-worker-rights.19082/#post-429930
I dont think anyone is really grasping the idea that a union isn't necessary to do these things, and I dont get how Costco isn't an example of this.
It's like thinking you HAVE to be married to be together forever. Okay, maybe....or...you can just be together forever, without having to be married.
Thats me rambling. Sears fucked up when it came to the internet. We are fucking up in competing for market share. Neither has anything to do with unions per say.Did Sears have a union? That's a pretty shabby example to use.
That depends. Our current persident was elected with 12% of the vote. Our previous with 15%. So the likely hood is no because people are inherently lazyThey can’t be one and the same?
