Our ETL-HR just told us it wastes time since we need help asap during Q4 and it delays a new TMs start by at least a week while they wait for the results...

That doesn't even make sense. If drug testing delays hiring by a week then you simply start the process one week earlier.

The truth has to be they don't want to spend the money testing for drugs. I don't know why Target has to lie about this & lie so badly.

Drug testing is a waste of time when everyone fails. It's probably why they're seasonal. Drugs kept them from getting jobs. Obvs this doesn't apply to everyone though

Plus you have more states legalizing marijuana to a point where it makes the drug test a bit complicated.
They don't want to be the first company taken to court by somebody who didn't get a job because they tested positive for a drug that is legal in that state.

They were calling applicants to set up interviews the day after they applied and then hiring on the spot and giving them a schedule (if they did not admit to being a thief and were capable of following basic instructions). I'm not sure how HR could start that process any earlier. Although her reasoning still made no sense since they could have easily hired people before the test results came back and revoked the conditional employment if needed.

Exactly!

It's not that simple. During the peak times of the year, drug tests can take 2-3 weeks to get results, results get mixed up. It's a pain.

The process will be moving to only testing certain positions.

Only positions that are test in my store are the ones where you can have an immediate effect on sales they said. Which is Flow and Cashier.

I was a seasonal hire and my results came in fairly quickly. But then again, that was back in 2010 when things made a little more sense lol. They actually sent me for the drug test the same day as my interview.

Tell me yes or no if I'm getting a raise and if yes how much is it. That's the only thing I give a shit about. I don't want to hear the scripted bullshit and lies. Just a yes or no and a dollar amount.

I am curious what my first merit raise will be, especially if I wind up getting the promotion to GSA. I started working here back in May, just after last year's TM reviews.

It kinda is. As far as pay scale goes, the easier you are to replace, the less you make.

Cart Attendent and Cashier are at the bottom. That's because you can pretty much grab any TM off the floor, give them 20 minutes of training, and they'd be able to do the job with minimal supervision. These are easily replaceable positions.

Next is Sales Floor, GSA and such. They require a little more experience which is why they are scheduled for multiple training. Most SFTMs wont argue that pay potions, but I know there are GSA that think they should be making GSTL pay. But in reality, they are almost as easily replaceable as a SFTM. Mainly because the GSTL does the exact same thing so if push comes to shove, they would just take over.

Next is Logistics. These TM's are a lot harder to replace than the ones before. Mainly because it takes quite a while to get all the PDA functions, pushing, and instock skills necessary to actually. You could easily take a BR and have him get carts. But you couldn't take a CA and have him pull the CAFs in a timely manner.

Lasts is things like PA, Signing Specialist and CO where there is usually one or two TMs that do that role.

I do think everyone should get paid a little more, but I do feel they pay by how much the job is worth, at least to the store.

Mentioning GSA as easily replaceable and CO as being harder to replace strikes me as odd. Working CO is part of a GSA's core roles. Some stores might have someone else doing CO but as per practice it's supposed to be the GSA's doing so.

We're all SEAL Team Six on the internet.

In the real world you're just a punk kid fresh out of college who also likes to engage in stolen valor on the internet.

Wish I could go back to being fresh out of college. Oh to be 22 again. Target was just my opportunity to move across country to get the job I really wanted. What are you in reality - an under achiever who blames everyone except themselves for your misfortune, a college graduate pushing carts, both, or an old POS that looks back and realizes how much time you wasted? I'm sure you're one of the above.

Some stores, including mine, have team members that get cash office shifts. They've been working here for a long time, and were probably specialists before that was taken away. To my knowledge, none of the GSAs here get cash office shifts. As always, all stores are not the same.

I specifically mentioned that it isn't always a GSA in the CO, but that as per best practice it is supposed to be.

Unemployment rate is 12% where I live. Getting a job at Costco only happens if you know someone and there is an opening. Getting a promotion at Target is impossible until someone dies or gets fired for theft. Everyone, for the most part, is overeducated and underemployed.

As for reviews, I love this time of year. The idiots forget it's right around the corner and keep doing their lazy thing. Then they complain about the 4 cents they get. Unfortunately they are too lazy to look for jobs elsewhere and they stay. For team members like myself who have been here awhile, racking up the Ex's and O's on the way, no one else pays. Though minimum wage is getting hiked in a few months...

You can be an EX or O type team member but still get an IE or U. The reviews are rigged. The favorites usually get the good scores.

Know why those TMs are favorites? Because they are EX and O types. They have no attendance issues, know their jobs and work hard while they're at work.

Lol they could never test all the seasonal flow hires at my store, so many quit flow. Hell we still have a few positions listed as open for flow. Personally i prefer working flow and backroom a ton more than hardlines/softlines or cashier, tons of work to do always busy never dull. Plus when i get off work i can still do things because everything is still open.
