Hmmmm they are not "Customers ", they are our "Guests",,,
I received a stern scolding the 1st time "I" called them Customer....

I work in "Enhanced" SFS, even though we were disguised in black shirts, I'm pretty sure the Target name badge, 3 tier cart & a PDA, let the Guest know I worked in the store.
I've found it very useful to turn it back on the Guest. Ask if they have a smartphone, if so, do they have CartWheel, do they have target.com?
Help them download the apps, have them search the item. Have them give you the DPCI.
Do item search then lead them to the item....

Using my phone has made softlines so much easier. Mydevices/pdas dont give you the option of picking different colors/sizes, but on the target app I can, which I then use the specific dpci with the mydevice. And when scheduled as the operator, it helps a lot when guests ask for something you don't know of or just generally decribe a piece of clothing they're looking for. My phone has basically become more useful than a mydevice for me.

Hardlines is fairly easy to learn.

Cosmetics can be a headache, as well as some of the beauty products, but it can be learned.

Chemicals, pets, stationary, appliances, domestics, sporting goods, toys, infants, and market are all simple.

Electronics can be hard, particularly when you get to books and DVDs. You're going to need a device to help you through that.

Softlines? Forget about it. You would have an easier time trying to learn to read Japanese. The team members who have learned it though have my unending respect and admiration.

LOL, I find it much easier to find things in softlines. And no questions about which is better, or what is compatible with what.

It's so frustrating when people keep asking the same questions when they've worked at the same store for the past 10 years.
