Last Saturday, I was carrying a box in Pfresh and sliced my right index finger on one of the large, clear shelf section dividers. As soon as it happened (and I had calmed myself enough to pick up my walkie to call), I called a "Code Green" and reported my injury.
The STL applied antibiotic ointment and gauze to the finger. She used two bandaids to hold the gauze on. Since the bandaids weren't enough, she then used scotch tape over the bandaids. After, she immediately gave me a task to complete and sent me back to work. She never had me sign anything or fill out an incident report, and seeing as I am still within my 90 days, I didn't want to question my boss. She gave me an order; I obeyed it. It stopped bleeding pretty quickly, so I didn't think it was anything TOO bad.
However, today, while letting it air out a bit (I've pretty much just kept it covered except to briefly change bandaids), I realized that the cut wasn't healing properly. Because it's on a joint, every time I bend the finger, the cut splits open, and it starts to ooze clear fluid (plus a tiny bit of blood at times). When I realized the cut was worse than I initially thought, I realized I needed to seek medical attention.
I stupidly told the dr that I was injured at work (I went to someone in my insurance network, not thinking that it was a work injury- I was simply thinking that this needed medical attention). Now, I'm freaking out because I never filled out any incident reports for this injury, and I can't afford to pay for this out of pocket. I didn't realize my insurance wouldn't cover an injury that happened at work.
Am I screwed?
