For the GSA position all cashiers should be at the level of a GSA. If not they shouldn’t be at Target. Post rollout the GSA will only be by themselves the first 3 hours and the last 3 hours of the day max. All other times the ETL and/or TL will be there.

In Target's world of thinking, this is what should happen. However, there is reality and this does not happen. First of all, you need to have enough GSA's and GSTL's staffed; there is a high front end turnover, especially with GSA's. I know in my store it is really hard to find and keep a GSA because of what expected and what they are paid. No, not all cashiers should be GSA's, just as some should not be a GSTM. Even with training, there are some people who are not cut out to be a GSA or GSTM. Let's face it, ASANTS and there would be severed staffing issues if we were to eliminate certain people because they are no at the level of a GSA.

Doesn't work. We start our unload 2 hours before anyone arrives to push anything, and we don't have enough U-boats to get through those 2 hours without having to move to pallets or other vehicles. We could order more U-boats.. but there's no room for them. No room for the ones we fill, no room for the empty ones. This is with maxing each U-boat out with as much freight as we can. It just doesn't work.

In addition to that, we have no choice but to break the rule is that no U-boats can be on the floor unless someone is pushing them because we simply don't have enough room for all the full U-boats during the unload, or even after. It's a clusterfuck. Even when TMs arrive to push the U-boats, they only manage to bring them back just as we're done unloading the truck.

Tried getting TMs to come in earlier, but DTL and STL shot that down. We can no longer stage pallets off the truck on the salesfloor either, so we block the other bay with them and develop a long line of angry vendors. Our trucks are too large and our unload area is too small to work with this process. We only have 2 bays for unload, and it's impossible to keep the 2nd clear while we're unloading the first. Our STL does sympathize with us, but she has no choice but to comply with the DTL's orders. ETL does what she can, which helps us stay afloat, but this new process is clearly not a "one size fits all" and we can't make changes to suit our store layout/size/freight/workforce.
We changed our dock hours to 9-2. We unload at 6 and open at 7.

I have read that some of these test districts have TLs getting keys to the store. just wondering if this is true with the Op Model. I know some flex format stores have all seniors except for the STL. I also read the senior TL position goes away and that includes the dollar that you would have for the key. Has anyone else heard of TLs getting keys?
Currently a Sr. Team Leader at a small format store (Target express). Here are a few things that are going down on the express side:
  • sort & stock has always been a thing with express stores, so it’s not new to us
  • we are still keeping our keys. (There’s days where you’re in the building with no other leader).
  • when the store director is working all “LOD” responsibilities fall on her. However we don’t use the word LOD anymore
  • we have a closing lead who works Monday - Friday and has weekends off
  • rest of team leaders still have closing/opening/mid weekend rotation
  • you work one mid shift during the week. (I.E. let’s say your closing night was on a Wednesday, it turns into your mid shift, usually 11-7. To cover closing leads lunch)
  • official tittle is Target Express Team Leader but every lead owns an area as an ETL or Leader would. ( I’m The Specialty sales lead)

Any questions about small formats/ target express’ id be more than willing to answer :)

The are key carriers, lower than old SrTL. They don't do LOD shifts other than sometimes 1 to 2 hours running the unload before the leaders arrive

I started after my store modernized. How was unload and pushing different before modernization? From what I've read on here it's horrible now, but it's all I know

Stores that are completely modernized - how do you incorporate/ divide weekly pricing workload? Who does it? Leads? p1 pushers? Is the same person scheduled each week the day the workload is due. How is backroom pricing handled? Does each department pull, price and push their own? Appreciate all feedback of how different stores are doing it. Thanks 😊

Flow team came in at 4am (later changed to 6am at some stores) and unloaded and pushed the truck early in the morning before the store was filled with guests. This meant shelves got filled before the store was busy, and there weren’t vehicles all over the place blocking guests when we were busy. Sales floor team focused on daily task/salesplanners/helping guests/zoning, dedicated POG team handled transitions. Dedicated price change team took care of all price changes. ‘‘Twas a simpler time

My store was overnight. Truck was completely done by the time the store opened, including backstock. It was much more efficient than the shitshow it is now.

This was about schedules and hours, not expectations/workload. We bend over backwards at our store to accommodate TM's dumb availabilities (half my team's not available weekends, or during peak hours, and a lot of them didn't work on Thanksgiving, even) because the hiring pool is non-existent, and a lot of this new schedule is to accommodate that. And, quite frankly, to continue cutting TM's hours because they can expect more work out of a leader.

If I'm going to be held to TL standards give me that pay too.

This is not to take away from any of the hard work TMs do, because it’s tough. My TMs are A players and I would never downplay the work they do. BUT, sorry not sorry- it’s not the same as being a TL. Not even close. If only some could walk in the shoes of a TL... not sure if many REALLY understand what it means to be held to the same standards as a TL.

Taking responsibility for everything that is wrong with your dept. Busting your ass to finish what your team cannot finish and still be able to do the "paperwork" so to speak. Dealing with the stress of "not measuring up" in this modernization era. TLs in my opinion are highly underpaid. This from a TM who sees the stress and pressure our TLs are under on a daily basis.

Unless we do, because it's the life we live when our pptl took vacation the week of baby hardlines transition and between callouts and a termination we were under 40hrs for the workload. I had to replan, prioritize, etc. All week. And answer to the stl same as the pptl would have. Which was one thing when I made specialist pay at $1 over base. But at cashier pay? Nah.... it's getting old real fast.
