Diaper consultantWe also had a tug of war with Baby, now it's firmly back in Style's hands.

don’t agree. With how Tech, Beauty, and GS (at LEAST) is before this pilot should get paid more than cashiers.
Wouldn't mind if they gave each store a couple like official "Captain" positions for TMs. Could pay an extra $1 or 2, and they'd be the designated trainer and point person when the TL/ETL is unavailable.I feel like with how many different positions there are and how unique the tasks of those positions are it would be unfair to say one is worth getting paid more than the other. That being said, with them bringing back emphasis on Trainers again, I think maybe trainers could possibly get a little pay bump. Right now there's nothing differentiating a regular TM from a Trainer aside from a title on your name badge and a pat on the back.

Ex. Service & Engagement Captain (old GSA) that'd train new hires, run breaks and speed weave, do cash office, etc
Or
A Fullfillment Captain (pacesetter) that trains, can help with INfs, can call for backup, etc
Basically, it's things that these TMs are already doing, but at least recognizing them with a bit of extra cash and a fancier title for the trouble!
Thinking this would be the TL bench/development pipeline spots, like the old GSAs, Brand Specialists, PAs, etc
100%! I was a Sr.TL when I started years ago, and even then, we had a few specialists leftover. At that time, it was only a Shoe/Jewelry Spec, Electronics, and a Signing Specialist (all else were GSAs or PAs), but those were some strong TMs that I knew I could lean on!Yeah, you just described the Specialist role from 15 years ago.
Even Sr. TL would be great to see again. Some TL roles definitely inherently do more and are more global; key carrier and/or Sr. would be helpful to distinguish this.100%! But I figure since stores are getting busier and we're going back to a team structure, there's a case to be made for that type of position to come back. Would love to see some of the TMs that have been "carrot-dangled" to get a little something in return
This is called "Guest advocate" and they're required to eventually learn to do all of this by the book. In practice there's only a few people who do cash office.Ex. Service & Engagement Captain (old GSA) that'd train new hires, run breaks and speed weave, do cash office, etc
What was the conclusion? Even in the document entertainment is forgotten about like always. Also, the tug of war that is : “is entertainment GM or Specialty/ tech” is no more.
I wouldn't mind them bringing those back either! Not really sure there'd be a need for them anymore, unless they are also intending to bring back full LOD shifts - probably biased, but I felt the position brought value😅 Seniors in our district were also the designated "training" TLs for new hire TLs or internal promotions, wrote the schedules for their work centers (then sent them to ETL for review), etc, but those extra things are currently already handled by others.Even Sr. TL would be great to see again. Some TL roles definitely inherently do more and are more global; key carrier and/or Sr. would be helpful to distinguish this.
Brand new SETLs should not be getting the same pay grade as a FBTL key carrier doing LOD shifts, as an oversimplified example.
I like having people cross-trained, since it provides a lot of flexibility, but I know a ton of TMs that prefer to just stay in their lane. Used to have Service Desk TMs that never left the desk, SCO hosts that only worked SCO, etc, and a lot of them preferred it that way! This is called "Guest advocate" and they're required to eventually learn to do all of this by the book. Cashiers are now required to know how to do everything on the front end. It's making me feel old to miss the days when I was required to do ONE JOB. I miss those days.
I lowkey feel like it wouldn't make sense to throw Entertainment to SM. I get that tech USUALLY does it in most stores but what part of books is specialty merchandise? What was the conclusion? Even in the document entertainment is forgotten about like always.
as a former MMB Specialist I feel attacked. not really but slightly sad but hey I got ice cream so all is goodI lowkey feel like it wouldn't make sense to throw Entertainment to SM. I get that tech USUALLY does it in most stores but what part of books is specialty merchandise?
The bank promoting the Sesrs credit paid the incentive not Sears. At least at Sears they paid us for pushing credit. As a full-time cashier I added an extra $80 - $120 a month to my paycheck.
Since Tech will be part of GM and not Specialty, Entertainment will be GM whether Tech takes care of it or not. What was the conclusion? Even in the document entertainment is forgotten about like always.
what is this word 'fixing'? when we try to fix our OH and cap problems nothing ever gets fixed! Nothing changes. Like with kitchen for example. ONLY TWO ELECTRIC KETTLES WILL FIT ON THE SHELF. Why is that so hard to 'fix'? Shelf cap = 2. I'm looking at 2. 2 are here. All truck is pushed and located and backstocked. WHY DO YOU WANT ME TO PULL TWO MORE KETTLES?? that's the fix I'm looking for.AKA Instocks. Probably fixing on-hand and capacity problems throughout the store.
I wish my SD would communicate AT ALL. So stupid. My S&E ETL said his position is going away & is now the ETL for Merch Operations. Not sure if that’ll be all stores or just the ones that are low volume like mine. My SD comes back from vacation Monday & is holding a meeting to let us know all of the changes so if no one else finds much out this weekend I can post more after the meeting.
Was the truck actually received though? If we're going to pull OFO's, we wait at least 2 hours after trucks are actually received in the Receive app and watch the numbers go down before we start pulling.what is this word 'fixing'? when we try to fix our OH and cap problems nothing ever gets fixed! Omg Style does absolutely nothing but stand around and gossip at the fitting rooms at my store. Specialty TL is so busy setting beauty and electronics pogs that she can't be aware of how lazy they are. Really noticeable. We also had a tug of war with Baby, now it's firmly back in Style's hands.
Well now that's a very good question and I have no idea. My store is so disfunctional that I wouldn't be surprised if this is a critical link that NOBODY IN LEADERSHIP has ever noticed or realized or followed through on.Was the truck actually received though? If we're going to pull OFO's, we wait at least 2 hours after trucks are actually received in the Receive app and watch the numbers go down before we start pulling.
We had plans one night to receive trucks as they were finished unloading, so we could do OFO's afterwards. Receiving was borked all night company wide, so we nixed those plans because we'd just be pulling what our team just pushed out.
Not quite that bad at my store but close. One TM who doesn't stand and gossip moves so slowly pushing hanging items from a z-rack, it's like they're a turtle. And 2 or 3 others will stand around the same display table, pretending to fold while chatting - so they might look busy to a casual guest observing them but any other TM knows what's going on. One TM who used to be in Style told me that they asked to transfer out of the department because she was so sick of doing all the work. There's no accountability.Omg Style does absolutely nothing but stand around and gossip at the fitting rooms at my store. Today was the big meeting with all the TLs finally & he actually said he wasn’t even supposed to tell us anything yet but since it’s all over social media & workbench he wanted to be straight up so we don’t speculate anything. Very thankful that he tries to be as upfront about things as he canI wish my SD would communicate AT ALL. So stupid.
