yea that's some nonsense.

I know my VM tho is gonna have to spend more time in hardlines. We've got kitchen counters and kitchen tables (see below), two bedding tables, two bedding bookshelves, this thing called Gift 'n' Go, we're gonna have two bath tables and bath bookshelves, home inno of course.

This is gonna be our small appliance section.
I want the fancy pants stuff... last year got shafted on nifty upgrades compared to this year.

Yea I do. And if you are actually HR you would know that there is a huge pay difference within markets.

You're embarrassing yourself.

First with your suggestion ETLs get lower pay for being in a low volume store. That's not true. I have a peer who makes 102k in a C volume store.

And yes I am HR. So you as a VMTM need to stop pretending you know how much etls make

I'm also in the highest paying region in Target so if my VMTL is capped. I know you are too.

Is that what they told you? Or did you goggle it? Cause either is suspect...

... I'd love to come scramble your hurdles for fun.

Then explain why my friend is an ETL and makes 3k less than me. I may not have my facts right on the pay of each store but I know for a fact she makes less than me.

Aren't ETLs not supposed to share their pay?

I was one of the original Visuals hired on and I'm still at Target. I get paid senior pay because #1. I have 2 degrees #2. I understand the impact great visuals has on sales. So to those crying because of why we get paid more, many of us earned it. I'm tired of the constant whining and complaining. Don't like it? than you do it. It's just that simple. Don't want to do it? Then keep quiet or provide a suggestion to do it better. You all think visuals is just dressing mannequins and making things look pretty. It's not. An effective visual should spend most of their time delegating, researching, planning and executing. Our work goes far beyond what's happening in the store. A good visual will be knowledgeable on the current trends, educated on the competition and aware of the increase and decrease of sales. Just cause you think their doing nothing doesn't mean they are. Believe me when you take a negative comping department and make it positive, you'll understand the value of a visual merchandiser. And an end note to anyone reading this, softlines dominates most stores sales mix, therefore only 5% of a visuals time (unless you're an innovation store) should be dedicated to Hardlines. The money is in the clothing.
Saying you earned it because you have '2' degrees is LOL. VMs get paid too much for what they do. Period.

VMs would earn it if they were in control of their inventory. They aren't, you display what Target sends you, making the job ridiculously easy relative to the pay.

My inventory is just fine. It's checked daily....by myself and my dedicated tms. And I don't follow VMG because it doesn't match the floor pad. I don't even touch the mannequins because softlines is expected to change the ones in their dedicated departments. So nothing you are saying is relevant to my store or many others....

What you misunderstood is that I am saying you do not order your own merchandise, i.e. you are not in control of your inventory. You must use what Target sends you and only what Target sends you. Get off your pedestal, because you have to merchandise an EXTREMELY limited selection, making the job ridicously straightforward and easy.

No one really "orders" their inventory so I am not understanding the relevance of your statement. Do you not understand the buying process. The same could be said for every area of the store with the slight exception of food vendor products. Merchandising is only a fraction of the role so even then what you are saying is not making sense for me. So please elaborate. My point is you are stating irrelevant facts.

I'm really not trying to take any sides in this ridiculous back and forth, but I can't ignore this one. There are plenty of TMs and TLs with degrees and they do not get Sr pay, nor do they deserve Sr pay because of it. Your pay is relative to your position and has absolutely nothing to do with your higher education.

C'mon! Try to keep up, put those 2 degrees to use! No VM orders their own inventory, so no VM deserves to be paid what they get! Simple. If VMs controlled their own inventory they would be worth the high pay they receive. They don't, so they aren't.

I agree to an extent. Yes a degree is at the end of the day is just a piece of paper. Which is why ETLs are no longer required to have one. However, I also have a background in my field. So for my my education and experience is a contributing factor to my pay.

NO ONE ORDERS THEIR INVENTORY!
geesh. inventory is the responsibility of the buyers and allocation. The only exception is food such as Starbucks and some vendors. Salesfloor team lead doesn't order inventory either lol.

Wait back right up.

You say right here that softlines is expected to change their mannequins. But you also say that "blah blah blah i keep up with fashion"

but you also spend 10% of your time in hardlines

what the fuck do you do all day if softlines changes their mannequins

Mannequins should only take 5 minutes each to change and those are available in the VMG. 90% of my time is spent in softlines either setting, prepping for price change, overseeing softlines truck push, checking back stock and remerching blown areas.

What does price change prep or overseeing push have anything to with visual merchandising
