Of course. Best to do on a truck day. Let your receiver or BRTL know early in the day so they can save you some.

Customers who call the store and try to reserve free cardboard get told to come in and do it themselves.

Really? At my store, they don't allow the guests to take any cardboard home. I had a guest call and ask which day is the day we throw out big boxes. I had to take a deep breath to keep from laughing.

I was able to borrow repacks, but I'm not sure they let us any longer.

If guests are willing to wait until morning, we'll take their name & number & tell them to come up to guest service by XX time or they're taken to the baler. If they don't show up as promised, they get a warning call; after that they go to the baler.
If we don't have any boxes, I direct them to the back of the liquor store across the highway. They always have boxes & they're the sturdy double-wall type.

Yeah we don't let guest take boxes but I assume TMs can

Hey thanks everyone you guys are awesome. Circle9 my receiver is a really sarcastic person like you we get along great I'll touch base with her!

Has anyone gotten cardboard from your store for moving? Is that even possible?

I did almost every box for my last move with stuff I pushed as In-Stocks.. My store we put a cart with a note - Moving boxes please for "Joe" and as people bring them back they fill the cart. You sort through them and keep what you want. What you don't goes in the baler.

Guests? If they are nice sure we let them have some. Have to be broken flat though.

Yep! I went right when we opened, because I knew they would be stocking One Spot. Got a bunch of One Spot boxes. We don't really give them to guests though, unless they just happen to be in the right place at the right time.

TMs, yes. Guests, no.
We get money back for recycling them. That's why it's so bad to put them in the compactor too.
Also, ask your log etl if you can borrow repacks for moving, worst they can say is no. It makes loading the moving truck sooooo much easier!!

We can't take repacks home but cardboard is fair game for TMs and guests. I've never heard of guests reserving boxes ahead of time, though. I just tell people what days we have trucks if they ask about it.

We have had guests ask very nicely and we have packed a few carts for them. I do mean asked very nicely. With us going to 4am it would be easier to give some away since cardboard wouldn't be done yet. Easy to pick through a cage or two for them.

However I do recommend a few of those black sterlite totes with wheels - they work well for heavy garage stuff. Most of my tools went in those. And you can zip tie them or put locks on them.

We can take them, disassemble them, and then on our honeymeme(moon) make a big box fort and keep all of our dank memes safe.

I still have green repacks up in my attic from when I moved years ago. The best part is all the bubble wrap you can get from domestics meanwhile Target charges an arm and a leg for it.

For a while we'd have guests calling to reserve boxes. The process was: 1) Guest calls the store and asks for some boxes. 2) Somebody calls out over the radio asking flow to start saving those boxes. 3) Flow ignores it because half of them don't have a radio or have more important things to do like push truck. 4) Guest comes in and finds nothing. Flow TL eventually got sick of the calls and announced that it was over. We'll tell people what days trucks come in and also tell them if they want boxes, come in by 9am at the latest and maybe they'll get lucky.

Last I was told a while ago that there was some issue with someone getting a box with particles of something they were allergic to in it...chemicals or food or something...not sure if it was ever a company thing or store thing but we always made sure the boxes we gave people didn't have either of those to prevent any liability issues.
