Closing all stores for easter

I always wondered why Target closes on Easter. I was once told it's a religious thing, but I think it's business. Would sales be dead if they open on Easter?

There would likely be very little business on Easter so the store might as well be closed. Plus it makes the company look good.
However, I thought it was a paid holiday? Bummer that it's not because I'm always scheduled for Sundays.

Closed for Easter 🐣 cool. I think another Burning 🔥 Question 🙋🏾‍♂️ is how’s that Time and a Half looking for those that get day Before or After? Inquiring 🧐 minds want to know

If Target was open on Easter, there wouldn't even be time and a half that day. Hell Target doesn't even pay extra on Christmas Eve most years.

They won't pay time & a half for religious holidays but will for Thanksgiving & Christmas Day.
Christmas is considered largely secular despite all the righties getting their knickers in a knot years back when Target was wishing 'Season's Greetings' instead of 'Merry Christmas'.
These old church ladies would come thru my line & say "Merry Christmas!" to see how I'd respond so they'd have reason to screech for someone to bitch to.
I started responding in every language to every observance until they'd lose patience & stomp off.
"Feliz Navidad, Froeliche Weinachten, Joyeux Noel, Buon Natale, Happy Hanukkah, Have a Blessed Kwanzaa & Blessed Eid & wishing you a Happy Winter Soltice!"

It's a religious holiday.
Yes, but it seems like TMs who are usually scheduled for a day and can't work because the store is closed should still get paid. It's not like only those who observe Easter would get paid.
Whatever. I'll just burn through some of my vacation hours so my paycheck isn't so short.

Why does everyone go on about this every year? Target has always been closed on Easter, and it's never been a paid holiday for as long as I've been in retail.

People bitch when we are open on holidays and bitch when we are closed. You really can't please everyone, or apparently, anyone. 🙄

If the corporate drones knew, not thought, they would turn a profit all units would be open. They don't give a shit what anyone thinks nor does the general public. Enjoy the day off, go to the golf range and hit a bucket of balls.

Those folks who normally work Sunday can maybe pick up a shift. Stay late or come in early to make up some of the hours.

As it turns out, I was scheduled for a day I don't usually work. Kind of surprising, but I'll take it.
Depending on how tight they're being on hours, starting early or staying late might not be acceptable.
