As long as you have either your TM ID or go in wearing red & khaki they'd give you the shot.
Wouldn't that be something.....telling your STL that you got your flu shot at a different Target?!

The flu shot sucks. Last time I got it, I had a huge welt on my arm and it itched like crazy. It made almost my entire upper arm sore. I didn't get sick though, which is nice. But the symptoms around the injection site lingered for almost a week.

I dread flu shot time because I cannot stand how much they hassle team members to get them. I don't get flu shots but I always just tell people I already got mine so they leave me alone. Couple of nights ago I read the huddle notes and did my duty telling team members to go get the flu shots and the STL said he was going to go get his after huddle. Shortly after that he came over to where a I was zoning with another Team Member and asked us to go over and get our flu shots. I responded that I had already gotten mine and he said "oh really? I asked the pharmacy and they said no one else besides me that is working tonight has gotten theirs." I was beyond pissed and looked him straight in the eye and told him I felt like he was violating my privacy and that I had gotten a shot but not from work. His face was bright red. Don't think he'll be hounding me ever again about the shot.

That's why lying is bad. Why didn't you just say you didn't want to for personal reasons?

Quite possibly a violation of HIPPA by the pharmacist.

Just like BoxCutter said, the pharmacy has no right to share who has or has not had their flu shot at work. As no individual was singled out and said "this person has/has not", they are not exactly sharing confidential information, but stating that of all the team members they are aware of working that evening not getting their flu shot, they are treading ridiculously close.

Not unless he actually gave out names...
Correct. If the pharmacist said something along the lines of "your the only member of the team that got their shot today" that is not violating HIPPA.

I don't get flu shots. My body hates immunizations, and I'd rather save those episodes for truly needed ones like tetanus. My head pharmacist and I had the talk the first year. She agreed with my thinking even though she'd rather I got it. I haven't had a shot or the flu in two decades.

And even if they didn't give names if my stl knew concretely I hadn't had mine and gave me shit I'd call the hotline. Screw that noise.

Aside from so much other nonsense on the vaccine note...
Some are just flat out allergic or morally against ingredients in the vaccine. If this is the case, there is nothing that can be done.

I agree. I hate having to hound guests at pickup/drop off about them. We have signs everywhere. Obviously if they want one, they can see that we have them & they will ask! I've already had a guest get pissy because he's been asked so many times and it's not even September. All I say when I'm working WillCall is, "Just wanted to let you know we are currently doing flu shots for guests ages X to Y." That way, they can make their own decision.

Oh my god, it's really annoying how they're pushing flu shots. A pharmacist asked me and even after I told them I have an appointment Wednesday and its covered under my parents' insurance, they're still trying to push it. They're saying I can win dinner and a movie. No thanks.

I have toughed out several bouts of flu and in recent years haven't had it. Granted it mutates but I'm playing the resistance card.

I've never heard of the pharmacy staff hassling team members to get their shots. Not a word is said in my store. Forms are left on the counter for us and if we go ahead, it's our choice. In fact, we have a new pharmacist who isn't even trained yet to give the shots. Our other pharmacist splits days with him so we have to be scheduled the same day he is or we wait. I'll get one. After getting a bad flu many years ago, I never want to feel that horrible again. I ran a high fever for about 4 days and it just wiped me out - took another few days just to recover from that.

They don't hurt and are over in a split second. The flu mist is always an option for people who are phobic of needles but last year, our pharmacist told me that it just doesn't cover as many strains as the shot does. My problem is that every time I'm ready to get it, there's a back up of guests by the pharmacy. And when it's quiet over there, I'm usually on the clock. Our management would not look kindly at us if we went over to get a shot during work hours. By the end of the day, I just want to get out of there. But I'm committed to trying to get it this week. It's really not too early. Flu gets going earlier and earlier each year.

Part of pharmacy performance is based on the number of flu shots they dispense.
This is true....we have a "goal" we have to meet weekly, monthly, and for the "season." If we fail to meet that goal, it affects our raises for next year. Of course, by the time those roll around, we will probably be CVS, but they are supposedly taking that into account.

I was reading up on the little blurb released by Target re: CVS.
Pharmacy rewards will be gone but they're touting CVS' guest loyalty program.
Two things that concerned me:
Will this transition impact the cost of prescriptions at Target? Until the deal closes, it’s business as usual for both companies. Following the transition, CVS Health has committed to having a low-cost generic drug option available to Target’s cash-paying guests.

Will this transition impact specialty prescriptions filled through Target pharmacy? Until the deal closes, it’s business as usual for both companies. Target’s specialty pharmacy prescriptions and service offerings will remain the same. Ultimately the relationship will offer Target’s guests enhanced access to high-quality, affordable medical care, including specialty prescriptions.
We have several Rx that we order so I'll be watching this.

All flu vacs cover the same 3 strains, some cover a 4th strain. The Flumist is a Quadrivalent vac, thus covers all 4 strains. The shot will be either the standard trivalent or the quadrivalent. Thjs year's Strands are:
an A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)pdm09-like virus
an A/Switzerland/9715293/2013 (H3N2)-like virus
a B/Phuket/3073/2013-like virus.
and the quads have:
B/Brisbane/60/2008-like virus

If you have a medical condition or take a medication that makes it so you are not suppose to have live vaccines you will need to get the shot as the mist is a live vaccine. And if your store is like mine... we still don't have the flumist and don't know for sure when we will have it...

Ive worked in a retail environment going on about 10 years now probably. I think I am immune! haha. Or at least my immune system is darn good. Barely been sick in the last 10 years

I asked yesterday what our store policy was on getting the flu shots. I was told I had to do it during my meal. If Target is pushing them, why wouldn't they allow us to do it on their time, assuming we're not in the middle of something?

I'm the same way, I would say working at Target gives you are strong immune system by how much crap you can get exposed too (how many things in a day do you touch?).. Also us having to work in market and being exposed to raw meat all the time is another factor.

Got my flu shot yesterday. I was chatting with the pharmacist, telling him I had heard that at other Target stores, pharmacists really push the TMs to get their shots. He told me that they had a quota of shots to give but it didn't matter who got them. Our store apparently has enough guests asking for the flu shot that he can easily meet his quota without bugging TMs. I also asked about those strange red vials for prescriptions and what was going to happen to them when CVS came in. He didn't know for sure but did tell me that CVS had bought the patent on the design.

Just wondering... new TM here... I *really* want a flu shot. Do I just go to pharmacy in my red & khaki on my break/lunch and tell the pharmacist... "can I get a flu shot?" I'm assuming it's free, right? I always get a flu shot.

You don't even need to be "in uniform." Hell, you don't even have to be at your own store, although it's appreciated if you are. All you need to do is go to the pharmacy (anytime other than 1:30-2 if they close for lunch), tell them you're a new TM & would like a flu shot, fill out the paperwork, give them your TM#, they process it, poke you, and you're done. It takes however long their wait is for shots. You can even go on your 15 to get the paperwork, fill it out & drop it off, then go back later for the actual shot.
