So we did ours during our huddle and most of us just made jokes about it. We did our shakeout near seasonal and TMs thought it'd be best to duck and cover under the Halloween tables that are laid out, but the ETl was like no, that's probably not safe. So instead we had to go to the seasonal back wall and hold on to one of the shelves and get a low as possible. Was that the right call? I think that would be less safe.

Wow. I thought this was a Target thing that we had to do. Yes, it's a nationwide earthquake drill. We actually overhead paged our guest to join us and don't think anyone did. So lame.

I don't believe we've ever had an earthquake drill at my store. But then again, I'm pretty far from the nearest fault.

I think Spot should have drills like this on a national level.
Sure an earthquake on the east coast isn't super likely but it can happen and there are other things like tornados in the midwest.
If the TM's actually know what to do, where to go, who to report to and how to handle the guests, there is a much better chance that when it does happen people won't panic.

How about a drill for when Yellowstone erupts and covers the whole continent?

"Attention Target guests: We've received notice that lava flow from Yellowstone is now within 1,000 miles of our store. At this time, we strongly recommend contacting your travel agent about airplane tickets to Europe. Oh, and don't forget, you can save 5% every time you shop at Target by opening a Red Card with us."

I thought that was supposed to be a nationwide thing at like 10am yesterday or something...that's what I heard on the radio, anyway. We're lucky if we have huddle at all at our store. They're pretty anti-communication for the most part.

So really, I suspect we'll just opt for the "bend over and kiss your ass good bye" route if the earth starts rattling here.

I heard nothing about this today at work, I didn't have a walkie or go to huddle (best perk of being flow? Maybe) but I didn't see or hear anybody talking about having to hide under a table either.

"Attention guests, would you like to play pretend for the next five minutes? First, find a nearby table or doorway..."

Every other store I have ever worked at has had unscheduled fire drills conducted by the town/city fire Marshall.. We have never had one in target.. I think if there were a fire, tornado or earthquake or any type of disaster it would be a free for all..

So far they have been lucky but one day there will be an emergency in a Target & not one employee will know what to do.

In the case of overnight workers, if the lights go out it could be a potential disaster.

Very negligent on Target's part to not have drills once a year & to bring up the topic once a month or so in huddles since there are always new employees joining the workforce.

during tornado season we talk about what to do all the time, where to go, and make sure all team members know what to do. Besides during those months we touch base at least once a month on where our internal rally point is and where the external one is.
Our store is very safety focused though..

I live in earthquake country so unless there's rattling, we shrug our shoulders.

Proof: I was at this LA Kings game.

My store was hit by an earthquake 3 summers ago.

You weren't the only one.. Go King's Go! If its not above a 4 on the scale I hardly notice. I was there in 1994 in the Valley..

Ours was a joke.

There's nowhere I can think to be in Target that would be "safe" during a major earthquake. I saw the damage the one did earlier this year, I don't want to be anywhere near the backroom. Our steel is so pinched at the bottom from being ran into with damn near every vehicle it's just going to fold under any amount of swaying.

We actually had to go to the fire aisle for a tornado warning once. My gosh was that crowded. A few TMs just stood in the boardwalk b/w E and F as there was no space. I am sure that if we were actually all that worried, we would have made room. I was one of the TMs in the boardwalk.

I have never heard of such a thing. All/most of our TMs know that we're supposed to report to the fire hall in case shit goes south, or to the hotel next door if shit goes REALLY south.

i don't think anyone from my store would know what to do so if the ground starts shaking were gonna have a bad day over here. Me, I shall cry out HIT THE DECK and promptly fling myself under the café counter and hope I don't go from Dying Sun to Squished Sun
