@gsa4lyfe

Any hints on how much diapers paper and water is avaliable at the dc's to send to stores? Do they have the capacity to add even more trailers right now?
The strike is over as of today so this is a little mute but plans as of this morning is to send ~325K cartons (~150-170 cartons / Store) of panic buy purchasing support / recovery response (Diapers, Paper, Water, Pharmacy-OTC, Personal Care).

The DC was prepared and has plenty to support the panic buy.

My understanding is that the strike is on hold while they negotiate the contract.
As long as that is being done in good faith and it looks like things are going smoothly, then the strike is off.
Fuck around, however, and there will be a lot of finding out.
They could just stay on strike until the contract is done which is the normal way, why give up the high ground?
But they also know how deep in the shit things are getting on the docks and they really don't want make their or our lives worse.

Yeah it’s suspended until January so technically it could restart as the contract isn’t finalized and just temporary right now.

Strikes over, and longshoremen are back to work today. Calm will prevail. Dumping products to stores will have consequences in short term. Be well and carry on.

As long as the company negotiates in good faith and the workers get something close to what they want.
Otherwise, it starts all over again.
I'm hoping the company learned it's lesson but damned if having to adjust their earnings reports by a point or two turns them into raving lunatics.

On hold until after the election, notably.
Somebody paid a pretty penny to ensure another market shut down did not occur until the next President is elected.

All other conspiracies aside, I think it is important for the country as a whole that we did not add to the chaos right before the election.

The Biden administration has been pretty careful not to take any credit but most of the labor writers I follow say it is really clear his team had a big hand in this.
The main one was getting things back up and running with these hurricanes.
Right now we would be in serious trouble if the ports were closed.
I understand why they don't want it to look like a political action and just want to keep things running.
