Today I had a little chat with the ETL-HR and I have been accused of verbally threatening a TM. This TM neglected to tell HR that 3 days prior he threw 2 cartons at me that hit my injured leg.

My TL was made aware that he had struck me twice and rather hard, but my TL seems not to have done anything with my report - HR was unaware of the incident.

Without getting into store politics the TM is the "golden boy"

I think that I am going to be rail-roaded. Is there someone higher up the food chain that will advocate for me? Should I get a lawyer? Is there any way for me to get a hold of the video from the first incident?

I am not a violent person, I think most people would say that I am to passive and quiet. Any ideas?

Talk to your assigned team leader first. Or any team leader you have a good relationship with. That can go a long way. Any other ETL's you can go to with this issue? AP leadership? STL?

Your TL sounds useless. The very least he/she can do is tell HR that there was a reported incident and that he/she neglected to actually report it. I'd go to ETL-AP to see if they can check cameras for the incident.

If this is an ongoing conflict and your TL did nothing, I'd hope his ass would be in a lot of trouble.

What was ETL-HR's reaction to you when you informed them of the prior incident?

Did they issue you any type of serious warnings or make you sign something?

I don't usually recommend the hotline but it might be worth it this time.
If they are talking about firing you pulling in every resource you have available is the best plan.
Write down all the details, times, dates, witnesses, and make sure you keep everything factual.

I worked today with no HR follow up. So I have not had sign anything. I was able to talk to the STL-AP (he has partnered with ETL-HR) he has not looked at the video from Wednesday when the TM hit me with the cartons. He told me that he is the "Safety Captain" not really sure what that is but it sounds like he should be the one looking into the safety aspect of it and has not. For something that is so serious it sounds like nothing has happened in the previous two days.

The ETL-HR's reaction when I informed her about the prior incident was as if she had no intention of following up or that it didn't register in her brain. Along the lines of he (other TM) reported it first so anything I say in my defense is untrue.

Hotline? What hotline?

I worked again today, ETL-HR seemed to busy with our visitors. For what they claim is a serious offense they do not seem to be treating it with any urgency.

Sometimes it takes them a while to line up all their ducks.
That isn't always a good sign for you.
If they had dealt with it quickly and talked to you already it would mean there was less paperwork involved.
I recommend you be getting things done as well.
Don't get caught out, make sure this is as complicated as possible for them.
Calling the number is one way to do that, another is to have everything written down, typed out, hell, even notarized.
Be calm, be cool, be a bomb that won't be fooled.

It might also be a good idea for Dazed & Confused to take a more proactive position & head into HR and inquire whether they followed up on his/her report of being 'attacked!'

If they seem interested - good.

If they seemed dis-interested - it's good for D & C to know this right away & make note of it - especially if he/she feels they are out to 'get' him/her.

If this is true, Target is a joke. How are you responsible for work place violence when someone threw something at you? I once witnessed a team member repeatedly kick one of the walls in clerical and he wasn't reprimanded at all. Target plays favorites so if you are on someone's bad side, be ready for war.
