COVID-19 Is anyone else's Target enforcing masks?

Was just curious, I'm in a state where it's currently required that you wear a mask whenever you go outside or shopping. The Target I'm at though isn't currently enforcing that, so they are allowing people to enter our store without a mask or anything of the sort. I was just curious if anyone else's Target was doing something similar or was in a similar position with their Target not enforcing mask regulations?

Required in my area. My store is enforcing. Refuse to wear one? You get to have a fun convo with ap.
We were enforcing it for maybe a day, but then they decided they didn't want to be one of those stores that was kicking people out because they weren't wearing a mask. Got me curious on if it was just something in regards to my store or if it was a Target thing in general.

Unfortunately my store isn't enforcing it either. Thankfully most people are complying, but we still get guests with no masks and TMs who pull them down, or take them off when in TSC.

Other than myself, no one wears masks in TSC at my store, too. I guess the coronavirus doesn't have the code to the door.

What's worse is our ETLs will gather in either the SD or ETL-HR offices to work or eat, with no masks and the door closed. If one of them somehow gets infected out of the store, we could possibly have all our upper management get infected and out on leave.

Our etls also wear masks only on the floor . I take it off only when I’m having food . Our state seems to be doing better with recovery . That’s making people more relaxed about these precautions !! I don’t know what they are thinking.

My store reminds people who don't have masks it's mandatory. But a lot of the time the responses we get are the fake af "but I have a medical condition"

Target can’t really enforce it. At this point anyone not wearing one is making a political statement. My state requires them and also requires retailers to enforce it. We simply have someone at the door telling people they have to wear one and keeping a tally of anyone who refuses and enters anyway. The direction from our group AP leader was to keep track and get an off duty officer posted of it becomes a big deal. Doesn’t make sense to put TMs between guests that are making a political statement and would more than likely become unruly if challenged.

If someone has a legit medical issue we offer this service called Drive Up for them. Having a medical intolerance doesn't mean you get to come in without a mask on. It means the business has to offer a reasonable accommodation for you.
Not in my state. Children age 5 and under don't have to wear a mask (although I do see some maybe as young as 3 wearing them at my store). And people with medical conditions that make it hard to breathe with a mask on are excused from the requirement.
I agree with you that drive-up service is definitely more appropriate. Seems like if I had a condition that made masked breathing difficult, I'd want to avoid other people as much as possible these days, just for my own protection. Although as @Tessa120 points out, not everything is due to physical respiratory ailments. I can see PTSD being an issue too. I'd probably use curbside pick-up then too.

That is irrelevant. A private business would still be within their rights to ask a person to leave if they are not wearing a mask so long as they offer a reasonable accommodation.

Sounds unusual for Target. Our DC is doing what the local regulations are doing which is masks in congested areas.

I can see wearing a mask in public if there is public in public but if I'm walking outside with no one else around... seriously... what's the friggin' point. Doesn't misery LOVE company?

EDIT, I see now you meant the customers. Not the employees. Shun them. Shun them all.

Our store was just informed that Target is going to now be cracking down on masks for guests. Dunno if this is just our state because of the mandate or if it’s like because of all the backlash they are getting online from people saying no one is wearing them.
we haven’t enforced it till this just came out and we are awaiting further instruction.
however I’m assuming it’ll die just as quickly as us asking guests not to try anything on out on the sales floor. Because I guess some store had a guest say it was racist and start throwing products at the TM who asked them not to try stuff on. So now if we see it we just have to sit and stare at them till they put it back, then go quarantine the items.
So I’m sure we will be seeing a lot of viral Karen’s throwing fits and being escorted out of Spot over a mask.

MY SD will NOT enforce it. People have been shot, stabbed and beaten over being asked to put a mask on. We will NOT put our TM's or our guests in harms way. (our store is in a high crime area)

Hell no. A man was stabbed over it in Michigan yesterday. Then the one doing the stabbing was killed after attacking a police officer.
