Is anyone else's store starting to worry them?

At our store they steal from other departments for OPU and DU. TLs and ETLs will do it even. Got enough hours up front for cashiers for once? Sorry nope we need to steal someone for OPU!

Well at my store the originated sales are way down and fulfillment is the only reason we're comping so those hours up front can be used for other priorities (including drive up)

Just heard yesterday from a TL about how closing TMs aren't able to do end-of-day pulls, either at all or doing them halfway and poorly, because they're doing OPU and SFS instead. My store's TLs and SD are picking and packing fulfillment orders all the time - it's not an unusual thing at all, especially at this time of year but during the rest of the year too.

I always loved Target's logic of cutting TM hours than having TL do that job at a higher hourly rate.

I hear you, it’s frustrating when management keeps dragging their feet on things that should’ve been fixed by now. The bag situation sounds like a nightmare, especially during busy times when you’re trying to make things work with whatever you’ve got. The whole focus on GS while they leave cashiers to fend for themselves isn’t helping either – I’ve been that one cashier and it’s exhausting. It definitely sounds like things are getting worse with the lack of towels and the mess in the backroom. If it's wearing you down that much, it might be worth updating your resume and seeing what else is out there. Sometimes a change can be the reset you need, especially when you're not getting the support you deserve.

Our Etls are doing the same. There's not enough freaking hours. People don't even want to pickup a few extra hours. I dont blame them. Thanksgiving week I work only 4 days and got paid holiday. I didn't want to work a 5th day.

The higher-paid person is there anyway. They just get pulled to do something else instead of what they would have been doing, and that thing just doesn't get done.

Hours are cut in my department because now we have to spread them out between the new seasonals - what's the point of seasonals with no extra hours? Why ask if we would be willing to work overtime and then give us none? I'm not playing the begging game - I'll just put in for some vacation time. Lame.

They probably were originally going to offer OT and then when the 3rd quarter results came out and the stock fell 20%, decided against the ot. Once the holidays are done with, they will probably hand out only four hour shifts. The cheap company wants to make it so tms don't get enough hours so that they don't get health insurance. That was the plan before covid hit.

I hear people not wanting to stay or add days more and more now.people just don't want to deal with mental drain of rollercoaster hours and trying to fit their life around it. They ask people to stay longer that day which is more hours but that means they have to cancel plans and disappoint someone again. They have to scramble to find someone to pick up their kids, or they have to reschedule appointments and so on. Or the next week it's begging for people to leave early or on their backs to finish earlier so they can leave earlier really makes them feel like their getting the bums rush.
The 20 hrs one week and the 50 the next is mentally draining for people and totally uninspiring.
With the heavier workload now everyone top to bottom is burned out which doesn't help matters. Who wants to stay 10 hrs after having a crying meltdown at work? Or watching coworkers or bosses arguing or complaining daily?

And yes I know "Love it, leave it or shut up about it"

It's what, an extra $2/hr? At least when I started that's what they told me it was

It varies by market but generally it is more than that now. My area the jump from TM to TL gets you an extra $6. It was $8 until they bumped TMs up a few months ago.

@flow4areasonuno Always Have a Resume Up to Date for Any Job You Hold. (Target is No Exception). If you’re not A Business Owner, Always be “Ready” should you have to change Jobs, Careers etc. As for what you described at your current Store, 🏬 High Turnover In all Areas (Including Leadership) could be the reason for some of the problems. As for the “Technical” aspect of the SCO’s If Leadership isn’t finding a solution, find a Workaround. One thing I’ve learned over the years is that if Managers can’t solve problems, you have to do what works best for you. Hope 🤞🏾things work out for you.

Well, yes worried cause why would Corp or Hrbp schedule a “visit” two days before Xmas? Stores in hot water or are we being pranked by administration to bust through Xmas reshop rather then backup at register? My experience these odd visit schedules rarely actually happen…

They're always out before a major holiday. They're supposed to be celebratory recognition visits. We had some of the group team in a few days ago handing out candy and were supposed to have the district team on Sunday.

A guest and I had a conversation about the state of the store. He guessed, and I agreed, that upper management doesn't want people shopping in store, so, make the in-store experience awful. And that's exactly what has happened. So when I hear, online sales are up as in-store sales are down, I know why. Stores are clogged with merchandise because they weren't built to be warehouses. The top shelves at my store are stacked 3 or 4 boxes high.

Not sure about upper management wanting to make in-store shopping awful, but my store has been doing that high stacking on upper shelves for a few years now. I think it's better than the massive de-trashing *parties* we used to have in the back, getting ready to set up the waterfalls of Black Friday *deals* and the pallets of toys or boots or whatever and the stacks of TVs - all for one huge day. Our parking lot has been pretty full most days when I leave in the early afternoon for the last 3 weeks.

Does anyone know what the reasoning is?
No but the programming has been enabled so the screen even says "no cash". No one's said anything that I know of. I assumed it was because the maintenance guy is lazy and won't do calls. It's common for 2 to be down at any given time, it to take months to call in a repair, then for some other one and then another to break and not do cash also a week to two weeks later, sometimes the same machines! I've just been telling the guests to complain about it via the survey

So our SCOs are as reliable and efficient as the Montel units.

The maintenance guy, PML, is not responsible for calling in any registers or SCOs down. The front end team is responsible for calling CSC and maintaining all registers and prive scanners throughout the store.
