Is your store still price matching?

It’s become the norm that guests come in and ask for a price match by scanning through the Walmart and amazon app or having a TM do it through the zebra for Target.com prices. I know we don’t offer the price match and guest service is priority but my stores leadership/AP is doubling down on not price matching and we are getting a lot of backlash from guests - is this happening in other stores?

We don't price match anymore?

Hmm, interesting. I'm not at GS so completely unaware of any changes or controversy. But, I wouldn't be surprised at this development. With the chaos already swirling in reaction to tariffs (and the postponed ones for Canada and Mexico), it seems like importers, wholesalers, and retailers would all be struggling to keep up with what current prices are and if to raise prices in response to all that, let alone keep up with what others are doing. So a price-match suspension might make sense until things settle down. If they settle at all over the next few years, which seems doubtful at this point.

We haven't matched at our store in several months at least. People will get used to it if your store is new to it.

I haven't price matched in a while. It looks like only Target.com, Walmart and Amazon (non marketplace items) only. I used to match to ulta.com and a few others.

This has not changed. Months ago price matching was changed and many retailers were removed from policy which narrowed it down to Target.com, Amazon, and Walmart.

It is still very much a guest perk that Target offers. I wouldn’t be surprised though if in the future price matching goes to only a Target circle benefit.

We still price match in our store, I've performed several over the past couple of weeks. We are stricter, though, in that the competitor's item must be exactly the same as from a search in Price Match. One problem is that Amazon and Walmart often don't provide the UPC code or the exact model number for their product. Our big competitors often carry a nearly-identical item, the product is visually the same and the box packaging the same, but with a different product model number: a vacuum cleaner model sold at Target as 9876-H is sold at Amazon as 9876-Q and at Walmart as 9876-Z with some very minor difference, hence not identical.

Price Match should be limited to enrolled Target Circle guests.

If it does make it automatically happen for .com matches. Also if it does happen the POS needs a way to NOT let ANYONE override it because of one can they will all go there to do it without Circle
