I'd say 90% of empty outs have no last research date, which means it's been more than 2 weeks (before I got tired of waiting and had me/pa do the work, sf is a different story, fix it as you find it)

That's why I've trained my team to research anything with no lrd and to make sure it says "in backroom? No".. That way there isn't a batch created that they might get dinged on for not pulling in time after 11.. In that case shoot outs/pull

At my store the STL has directed instocks to scan market everyday. I think they use stand-alone research. Are they doing it everyday? No but it's happening about 4-5 times a week, which I'll settle for. There is good communication between instocks and market re: auto fills are pushed, backstock done etc. This has really helped keep market full.

There is a huge difference between scanning outs and research. Scanning outs will fill the floor today. Scanning research ensures that we are filling the floor next week, too. Scanning research also ensures that our inventory (and profits) are real. We haven't been able to scan research because our trucks are never completed in a timely fashion, our reshop is out of control, the zone is terrible and the amount of backstock is indescribable. This was not the case just a year ago. The only differences? We have had a complete management change with regard to ETL's and STL's. TM's and TL's are practically standing in line at HR's door to hand in their notices and most are not waiting out the 2 weeks. There has been very little communication with regard to exactly what the IS team's job really is now since apparently anyone can do it while the IS team is used in other areas. Interesting that they are actually having everyone doing work that is one level above their paygrade. Hmmm... ethics, anyone? Wonder exactly what it takes for someone outside of our store to see the correlation.

If they're scanning every day or every other day, you're in rare company.

Most IS teams I've spoken to are the go to project bitch these days. Flow teams are out of control in general, and backrooms seem to be generally struggling to stay afloat with hours being slashed and trucks getting bigger for the fourth quarter push.

I'd happily scan the U and frozen, but like I mentioned, any TM who isn't an IS member is banned from researching at my store.

I flouted the ban when it was just BRSrTL waving her power madon around, but she got ETL-LOG to uphold the ban, so here I am, with a half flexed bread table and outs on meat.

I totally empathize with you guys. Without the trucks getting pushed and backstocked the day they come in, the whole instocks process is screwed. I was on IS before we remodeled and I became PA.
We are a C volume PFresh. I'm sure the higher volume stores with huge food trucks makes pushing and backstocking a challenge. I'm the definition of a squeeky wheel so luckily, we've got those 2 things nailed down. 95% of the time the food trucks are pushed and BS'd on delivery day.

I'm sure they think they have a good reason for this ban, but frankly, it's stupid. Can't sell what's not in the store or is in the backroom

Tips to cut set times:
1) Don't rotate product. After all, flow doesn't FIFO either. Especially medicine or vitamins.
2) If possible, just face one of each product when setting.
3) Don't clean. Ooh, this is a big one. You can cut a lot of time off the top by not cleaning.

Any other tips? Specifically for shoes, we are up against it tomorrow. Shoes to do and less than half the set hours to do it.

Tips to get fired*

I think that's what you meant.

Turn over in the company is out of control. Getting fired is oid school, look the other way and bury your head in the sand is the only answer stores have for getting turn over under control.

Our market TMs actually shoot research too MUCH, I think. They'll QMOS a ton of stuff, then research it... suddenly I have 20 french breads in the next CAF, and 20 more in the research batch. Repeat ad nauseum. They shouldn't have to scan it, right?

Market TM really shouldn't be researching. When I could, only myself and my PA reached, and we always did it between CAFs or during a non CAF hour.

Seek to understand, then "just a friendly reminder"?

If they QMOS and then research, and then pull the research batch by about 5-10 minutes before the cafs drop, then there will not be over pulling. If they QMOS, then the caf gets pulled, then the research batch gets pulled, the system will pull the amount that was QMOSed and then the full capacity (or whatever is needed according to the research scan). This is why all research and outs should be dropped and pulled before the first cafs of the day drop. Otherwise you end up with inefficient pulls and a lot of double work.

we had BR TM quit today he said he had a new job lined up imediately and walked right out the front door.
