Point System

Haven't heard anything at store level. If it starts in February we should hear something soon.
Thanks for the info. Yeah there have been rumblings around my store but noone other than leads have been told anything yet. My store usually doesn't tell us anything they expect us to look into these things on our own .

Over the years I have found out important information from other team members talking in the break room than anywhere else.

Yeah usually someone who is close friends with managers will spill everything around the whole store but nothing from anyone yet. They are playing this pretty close to the vest. I rarely call in maybe like 3 to 4 times a year , I do have elder parents and a brother who just had a kidney transplant so who knows what next year holds but i dont want this new point system to get me fired for things that are out of my control.

I would assume sick pay (or protected PTO as Walmart calls it with their point system) would still excuse an absence or late.
 
I wonder if it'll mean calling out 3 consecutive days is the same as calling out 1 day (like it was at Wal-Mart when my gf worked there several years ago). I believe they used a points system
 
@Peter Parker If you want more hours, try learning another department. The more areas you are cross-trained for, the more consistent your hours will be if that is what you want.
I Am trained for everything but guest service. My store even though we went well above expectations for christmas profit got our hours gutted like i have never seen before. Not sure if it is company wide or just the SD making sure he gets his bonus for staying under hours for the quarter. I have already asked every tl for shifts but were told the only way we will have extra hours are with call ins.

Only other option then is to get a 2nd job. Since your hours are so low, sounds to me an additional source of income is needed for you to sustain yourself. Use your skills.
 
Sometimes, not even this at my store. Called off hours aren't used - maybe they're banked for later in the month? Don't know what happens to the hours, just that we struggle to stay above water with getting truck pushed and back stocked.
Oh yeah they push us alot harder when hours are tight but most of the team pushes what they can and goes home. Told my TL and ETL they will have alot of trush to push in the next few weeks .
