Archived Question about saved hours and leaving

I’ve been considering putting in my two weeks notice, and I’ve got over 30 sick hours saved up and was just wondering, am I able to use them or put them towards a final check before I leave? Like a payout of sorts? Or no? If so, how would I go about doing that?

You would have to use them. They are not a payout unless mandated by state law. Which most states are not.

Check with your HR. Depending on your location you can either get paid out or you can use them in conjunction of your leave.

Since 2015, if you live in CA, you cannot use your sick hours unless you or family member is sick, in a domestic violence, sexual assault etc. You cannot use sick hours for vacation and may be asked for a doctors note (ASANT). No payout.

Just take a sick day or 2 before you give notice. If you're had good attendance, no one will bat an eye.
