Isn't it only 4 different scales? From a reddit post

No its 6 payscales.

Mon - Fri 5p-11:59p $2.00
Mon - Fri 12a-5:59a $3.00
Sat - Sun 6a-4:59p $2.00
Sat - Sun 5p-11:59p $2.50
Sat - Sun 12a-5:59a $3.50.
yeah it makes sense and more people even got raises out of it than cuts afaik. it's obvious the corporate rationale. they're having more trouble keeping people on a2 and b2 than a1 and b1. so increasing pay on the former is the sensible strategy. (I guess, lol).
a counterargument is A1 and B1 are performers, so why reward shoddy performers on a2 and b2.
but it still really sucks if you are on a1. and the only ones taking a hit. feels bad man.jpeg. in this inflationary environment having pay reduced is crazy.
i still laugh that it's supposed to simplify things though. it's like 100x more complicated now.
Also differentials have nothing to do with performance. That would be performance incentive or bonus. B1 doesn't get a differential because its the most desired shift. A1 is during the day and should be more desireable.
B2 and A2 get higher differentials because in theory they are the least desired shifts and so to try to keep people working on those shifts.
Target GSCL has always done differentials ass backwards. Most companies and industries do a weekend differential, a night differential and if you work Saturday and Sunday night you get both.
A lot of buildings also jacked up their differentials during COVID as an easy lever to get more people in the door. That was always suppose to be temporary but then we just didn't do anything about it for 5 years so we all assumed it was permanent. Originally it was A1 was $1.00, A2 $1.50 and B2 $0.50.
That's why I think this rollout was stupid and could have been done much better. Target didn't explain it well (again) and so all most teams heard was "you're losing money" and therefore heard "Target is trying to save money" which as a whole this thing is not really making or losing money.
My theory is that this ultimately a plan to get a way from key based schedules. I would not be surprised if schedules get a whole revamp and we also start implementing more part time work and these differentials are way to hire to specific days where we know we struggle.
