MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

Okay so we never got the Duncan Hines fixture for the Frosting Creations. My signing spec mysupported it and even after sending a picture of the fixture, they don't know what it is. They are clueless. Add the to insult that a guy came last week to build the stupid fixture yet he didn't have one on hand (he probably gets paid double to build a fixture that a two year old can build). He didn't care we didn't have it.

Is there anything we can do about this?

We actually got our 2 months early and had no idea where it went.
It made its way back into the clearance area in the backroom before I rescued it and put it in the fixture room.

Did your boys action not have blue already? Also education systems should have been set with yellow last set IIRC.

Ours was blue last time. This time we needed the blue because toys was shifting down into what was summer seasonal toys (which was green).

Luckily between what they sent and what I already had on hand, we had it covered. And to think - just a few days ago an ETL walked through and saw my stash of backer paper (i keep a little from each dept for maintenance) and they were like "Toys, didn't that just reset in January? You should throw this out......" Yes. Because you, of course, know better than I do.

As for the Duncan Hines fixture we had a cardboard one on an endcap MONTHS ago in market, but as far as this one goes, ours is MIA too.

If you haven't already you might walk the stockroom market areas to see if it was placed there. IIRC it came in an assortment box with product rather than as a separate display, at my store it was on the pull when we set the aisle.

Same here. Box is fill with the product and the fixture is in there with it. Walk your stockroom aisles and look for a Duncan Hines asst box. The asst labels don't always scan and I find the br tm will either place it on a shelf any ways or leave it on the floor at the end of the aisle.

If you have the product on the shelf, I bet the display was tossed.

One idea. Wonder if calling the phone number on a Duncan Hines product could connect you to a rep that could send you another one? Worth a try!

Green goes behind the playdoh and the card games, 1st section of the board games/puzzles plano.

Our yellow was used on the new bulk toys plano (no more riser planograms). Because we used the yellow on that, we didn't have enough for the education systems and had to leave that blue. We needed pink too, so looks like Im gonna have to order both pink and yellow. We had extra blue too after taking down all the seasonal toy aisles, so we saved it for the next set.

You had blue on seasonal toys? I thought that was supposed to have been green?

Wasn't this the one that was in mini-seasonal from the summer set? there was a frosting fixture over there in mini, and I think it got moved from Mini to our Grocery section.

Nice if "they" explained it in the early set notes. "We realize moving this fixture 4' will create extra work for your team, but test stores showed moving it created a 3% increase in sales" I guess it would take the frustration out of the extra work when we feel we are doing it for a reason and that we are part of the success instead.

On the other hand, to be fair, I don't think most of us signing specialists or plano team leads have time to read the transition packets cover to cover. I try to, but not to the depth that I want to.

Re: Duncan Hines

Apparently mysupport got hit by a clue-by-four and figured out what we wanted and we shall receive our fixture in "a couple weeks." We never had any fixture in mini-seasonal... Hahaha I guess that's why there was only room for five or six of those flavor packets there.

The one that was for a salesplanner months ago was different, right? I know that got thrown out.

New shipper, at least for us. Different sizes.

Can't remember the game names right now, but did anyone else get one wrong feature game strip? I didn't want to bother Mysupport if it was a company wide issue....

I have a question about the backwall of cosmetics. I forget the fixture numbers but hopefully I won't need them. We completed our remodel and the change to beauty but the backwall is not complete. The reason is because they sent us two types of crossbars (I don't mean the size of them). I believe the large white fin is ax4510 and the bars are ax4530 for the 4' and ax4529 for the 3'.
http://imgur.com/a/6SOUp shows the parts that slide into the backwall fin. Notice how the top picture only has indention's on one side, this keeps it from sliding in. The part numbers are exactly the same, we have ordered new ones twice and got these both times. I will get a better picture tomorrow and make sure I have the correct part numbers but if anyone knows off-hand what the issue is then please go ahead and reply.

Hmmm..that has me stumped. Did you order new fins also? Just wondering if the fins have changed. I'm at home now, but if I remember, I can check my old cosmetic fixture manual.....

I honestly don't know if they ordered new fins or not, I guess that should have been the first thing to find out. I will ask next time I go in.

all of my pieces look like the bottom picture. in the top one - is the whole rail that shape, or just the part where it meets in the corner? if this was very recent - they could have redesigned the fins with the city stores, or could be the manufacturer changing it up. our DB was a while back, and we did not have this issue.

http://imgur.com/a/llxaK shows the crossbars a little better. The top and middle one are the ones that do not work, the last picture is the kind that works. The part number for the 4' crossbar is ax4529 by Cormark inc., I did notice 2 others in tipp - ax0910 by Southern Imperial inc. and ax4648 by Decimet Sales inc. but I do not know what type of indention they would have. We have emailed the manufacturer and are waiting on their response.

The top rail won't fit into the grooves of the fins, it's to wide or the indention doesn't line up. The original bars we had have the part number engraved ax4529, the new ones we keep getting have a label attached that gives you the same part number when you scan it, no engravings. They have not ordered new fins, but we have old ones on the salesfloor and several new ones just built sitting in the fixture room.
The fins are all the same - ax4510 though when I was looking through the cosmetics fixture book it mentioned something about ax4510 only for certain stores (all remodel and retro fit?) - it also mentioned something about different fins, ax4511 I believe (though I think it said it had a smaller top curve or something, I can't remember). The overview and line listing for the planograms does call for ax4529 but it doesn't mention ax4510 though I wouldn't expect it to mention the fins anyway. Any answers or ideas?

All my pieces look like the bottom piece.
I'll have to dig up the list from the last cosmetics reset but it might have the numbers.

If I'm following this correctly, I apologize if this has been answered or if I misunderstood the question. We ran into the same problem with our store (remodel PFresh). We got both old and new ones and both work fine in our current cosmetics setup (still have the old dividers). Are you talking about the white thing itself that holds the peghooks or are you talking about the dividers that go in between sections? Or are you looking for the clear ones for the endcaps?

Our problem was not being able to get the white crossbars to go in, we had to turn them upside down and make sure that they were aligned on the same number row in the side divider. I have both old cosmetics manuals but they are at work.

I am talking about the crossbars that go into the dividers. They are 4', white and hold the peghooks. I don't see how turning them upside down would help unless it's something I just don't get. We have new and old dividers, these are fine. The cut is different on the crossbars they are sending us. I have the manuals from 2010, 2011 and 2012 and it seems to be the same information on them.

I'm
Looking for a part number for lip cube fixture I believe it's in the maubelline pog. The tipp number in the fixture guide is xxxx but in tipp it comes up a xxxx.1. I ordered it and it was the wrong fixture. Any ideas??

OT ~ Is there a short format label holder for pegs and do you use them?

The 5/25/12 poster board plano prints short format labels for the peg hooks. Wondering if we are using the wrong label holders?

On the poster board frame I think it's the hangie-swingie holders.
The peg hooks should be regular labels.

yeah, swing labels (came with the fixture - have a cutout in the middle) for the poster board portion, and regular labels for the peghooks on mine.

Yep, have the swing labels, but the peghooks labels print in short format. ETL threw a fit about putting the short format in a regular sized label holder. No problem reprinting them in large format, but with price changes, etc., don't want to have to keep doing this.

Yes, our etl is nit picking... Write ups for forgetting a inventory control clip, not removing the 1/8 strip off the label, etc, etc.

Gosh! That's petty!
