What will replace Ulta?

I'm curious how quickly the existing ones will exit. Remodels are planned years in advance and the next few years are focusing on older lower volume stores that generally won't have an Ulta.

We have an Ulta. I am thrilled it is going only because it screwed over the style floor pad. It was announced that some stores will get Warby Parker. The end of Ulta inside all Target stores is August 2026. We have not been told when it will happen. I think it will be after 4th quarter for sure. It never generated the sales they expected.

We have an Ulta. The space it's in used to be jewelry. They combined the space for jewelry and accessories (which used to have its own section) to make room for Ulta. Guests complain about how small our jewelry section is, and we have SO MUCH jewelry in the stockroom. I hope they just revert it back.

The local store that has an Ulta in it, also has an Ulta beauty store in the same lot. Seriously.
It was also a nightmare at the DC side as AP because the repack boxes would fall apart so often and you would have to piece count it all and ensure every DPCI was accounted for.

The nearby stores to me that have Ultas, there are literally an Ulta less than 5 minutes from each one. There is actually an Ulta stand alone across from one Target in the same parking lot.

Might as well just replace it with As Seen on TV, rotating Online Market - featuring Internet store products, or even IKEA @ Target.

It's like when there's a TarBux when you walk in to the store, but there's a freestanding Starbucks on the main drag that leads into the shopping center where Target is.

Or like when there are two waffle houses within eyesight of each other

There was a stand alone Shack Shack across the street from Shake Shack that was inside of a mall.

Also, there's a regular Starbucks within the same the shopping center where a Starbucks reside inside of a Kroger chain store .

I know we would all love to give the floor pad back to style, but it’s such a waste of resources to remodel those stores again. Last year my district opened up like 6 Ulta. Doing another construction project to simply convert the store back to what it looked like before doesn’t make sense.

What would make the most sense to me is to simply strip the Ulta branding and repurpose the space with the same fixtures. Maybe an upgraded beauty area for higher end brands?

I always thought it would be kinda cool to make it a Bullseye area that has all the Target branded merchandise in one area.

Edit: or also just bring in another branded partnership that doesn’t require staffing. Kate Spade would look nice there.

The Ultas @ Target from what I have seen were bare minimum setups. Simple displays and shelves that were blocked off by belt posts.

1. Independent internet stores be featured

* Big Blanket
* Hello! clothing

2. IKEA items @ Target, Wayfair items @ Target

3. Or Husband zones - Serving beer and Sports TV. Get them out of the hot cars in the parking lot.

I think it would depend on where Ulta lands in a store. We're a p-fresh and could easily take the space back for style if we simply moved jewelry/acc to the Ulta space and made more room for Wild Fable/Gateway (all of this has the same flooring for us). Gateway could be more of a destination space that way since it's right by FOS and wouldn't feel squeezed into the WF space like it is now.

Alternately, I would love if we could move our kids shoes to the Ulta space and expand boys clothing; since our remodel the boys space is super small compared to girls and we get shopped heavy for kids clothing.

Using it as CB2 space for stores that don't already have it would be nice too. It would eliminate many of the amp fixtures in the aisles that way.

Our ultra is across from beauty and on the corner adjacent from greeting cards
SO

jewely/accesories moves into ulta space ..expanded a bit. Now showcased on the corner and no one can hide and steal jewelry as easily
-wild fable shuffles over to fill that void..expands a bit as well
-gateway stays
-Art class fills in behind gateway and with that girls becomes L-shaped
-boys expands
-kids shoes stays on the corner adjacent near sheets/bedding
BAM!

In my store…kids took the biggest space grab for ulta to move in…but is NO less than 1/3 of the style freight every truck
Approx 3 million kids style year to date sales vs 345k for Ulta yrs last time I looked

Its time.

MMM, sorry, best we can do is adding an influencer partnership table for the latest youtube beauty/fashion trends to be sold out of a shipper and some flex space for black friday pallets.
