Who owns style sort?

The push expectations in style at my store are getting ridiculous for how horrendous the sorts are. I’m talking z racks so full they fall over on TMs and the sort taking you from one floorpad 500 feet to the next and back multiple times. The whole thing is so full it can’t easily be resorted without another vehicle. I’ve partnered with the style ETL and they dgaf, not a single one, to improve the sort on racks yet expect TMs to meet greenfields push times. Does style break out technically fall under GM ETL as an inbound process? The style team feels set up to fail and their inability to do their jobs negatively impacts my ability to do mine (VM). I deal with the fall out, fielding complaints from the team, do my best to advocate for them all while receiving minimal support for VMGs because all that matters is truck. I’m tired of pulling 50+ rubber bands off hangers already pushed to the floor

Style breakout wouldn't be such a bitch if they hung more items. Target has way too much stuff folded on tables. I understand that when they are neat it makes a nice presentation, but maintaining the floor is near impossible with all the folded stuff, especially since the floor is grossly, GROSSLY overpushed.

Z-racks are much easier to work (when not overloaded) than baker's racks piled high with ridiculous amounts of folded items.

Correct, Specialty owns Sort & Stock. The last 2 months have been next to impossible to get Sort done correctly because of how heavy freight has come in. We usually have to have whoever is in Sort stop to work green metros to the floor so they have space to sort (usually kids folded & mens basics for us).

Myself (VM) and the SSTL have been keeping the team running freight out as they run out of space--and if we get pushback from ETLs we remind them it is a SAFETY issue and it is better to stop sorting to keep the Sort area accessible for us and fulfillment as we can better protect INFs this way.

Outside of heavy freight, Sort is still a work-in-progress for us. I'm still trying to get the team to separate UT and AND onto their own z-racks as well as womens AIM and IHS onto their own. Boys & Girls at some point too. I don't think they realize they are getting in their own way by not doing this. If I end up working out racks, I pick thru it only grabbing one brand out a time so I'm not going back and forth on the floor. Or I will pick off the racks in Sort only grabbing the new stuff and leaving the replenishment on the racks to free up space.

I get no support for VMGs either. It all falls to only me because, like you said, truck is all that matters. This has always been a problem with Target. Truck takes precedent over everything else despite things like VMGs or POGs not being done affecting the ability to efficiently work the truck.

There really should be a training explaining how cogs work and how that applies to running a retail store. 🙄

Honestly our floor is an embarrassment. All is see is stuff clearly in the wrong place, basics POGS that are awful, and tables looking like someone dumped a pile of laundry on them and walked away. Even when they are folded somewhat neatly, they are so egregiously overpushed they look comical. I refuse to give more than the most cursory attempt to neaten an area. It will be trashed again in very short order.

How is it that they reset Mens basics and it looks worse than it did before? It makes no sense. It can't actually be set to a proper plan.

Can't wait to see the mess I walk into today.

This makes me feel better. We have YC, AND, UT, AVA, FC, and seasonal on the same racks. It is a cluster for the TM pushing! The RTW/YC team has gotten better about partnering with me when they bring new product to the floor and I help them merch it in, but like you mentioned, it’s inefficient because the floor isn’t set. I have to deep zone before I can set and often don’t have enough open vehicles I can take from break out to be able to sort through such a mess to set.

It’s rough out here. I’m trying to advocate for my role. Partnership does not exist between me and the style TL unless it’s convenient for them. I’ve been belittled, lectured, and reprimanded on the sales floor for not prioritizing their workload. I stepped way back after that. I won’t bend over backwards to do everyone else’s jobs at the expense of my own if I’m going to be treated like that.

As of beginning of this year district 231 specialty was owning style .
But I heard that since style took over they have pallets upon pallets in the steal at my former store 😆. Seems like them complain about 10 repacks not being finished has come to hunt them 😂

This is what would happen here if we followed company direction.
