They wanted to prevent a union so bad but they just gave tms the ammunition to try to unionize (with good reason). Very sad state of affairs indeed.
This. I havent bought anyrhing at target for over two years now. I shop at bargain stores now i cant afford anything else. And at the same time cut down on profits. You can bet most TMs are spending less at Target now. They can't afford it on these wages!
I can probably count on the fingers of one hand the days that I haven't bought something since I started working here. I sometimes make two or three purchases a shift. And at the same time cut down on profits. You can bet most TMs are spending less at Target now. They can't afford it on these wages!
Or would they want full availability only to be scheduled one day
It's happened to loads of people here already.
If you are talking about yourself, I would do it. I wouldn't have to train you, so no problem. Someone who wants only 5/10 hours as a seasonal, I would pass. I will spend 25 hours on training someone who will end up working 40/50 hours for me--not worth it.So with the reduction of hours everyone is seeing, do you think they would hire a seasonal TM to work one day a week? Or would they want full availability only to be scheduled one day?
wow Target Community Facebook page ...

i luve Matt Baker's comment ... it's like employees play hide & seek .....
Agree, but we actually get early birds quite often. It always surprises me how many people go shopping at 8 am. Unless I'm working an early shift, I'm asleep until at least 9. I've had guests trying on clothes at the fitting room between 8 and 9. Like, why are you here?I'm curious what time she was shopping.
Like, I do understand *not* having a cashier from 8AM to 10AM at the latest. It's fuckin' dead.

I prefer less people when I shop too, or just, anywhere anytime lol. It's tough to get up that early when you are a night owl though. That's when I like to shop. Because I know stores won't be busy yet. I don't like shopping when it's too peopley, makes me cranky.

Yup, every one I know who has kids is an early riser, no choice really lol.It helps that I have two kids, neither of which will sleep past six.
Well, I'm at least one early bird without children to make me get up early. Was a night owl during my college years, but my natural inclination is way earlier than most.Yup, every one I know who has kids is an early riser, no choice really lol.
I was the signing "specialist" for many, many years. I was good at my job and the fixture room and salesfloor reflected that. But, I saw the writing on the wall and finally got the receivers position. Our fixture room now looks like a war zone, and signing is rarely done. But, Spot is okay with that.@TargetOldTimer , any ideas?
Thank you for the laugh. I see all to often sales floor working with heads down, oh and all call box service levels consistently exceeded. They don’t answer calls on walkie nor do they log onto phone. AND... in my store salesfloor consistently is way over hours, that end up being taken from where?? THE FRONT. so you better believe they better get up front and backup to take care of lines of guests. It’s sad to see things like your post and shameful to see it live in person. I’ve worked in all areas maybe that’s my problem but...Unless you have been at the front in any of the positions please don’t pretend SALESFLOOR is keeping TARGET in business.Look at the bigger picture. Front end is expected to be self sufficient but has permission to occasionally get register help when it's crazy. They also have immunity from helping elsewhere, even putting out candy.
Sales floor is expected to be self sufficient and never gets help from the front end, no matter how many times the front end has said "drop all your tasks and quit helping guests on the floor, because even though we have the same proportion of hours we need to take from yours".
So who ends up the loser in all cases? And who is partially responsible for guests not getting helped on the sales floor? Backup should be a rarity, not the front end's go to answer for every staffing hiccup.
