We start the pilot on March 5th. I'm part of the new Merchandise Ops team.
Yeah that's the issue, they want you doing it all over checkout. It wouldn't be so bad if they ALSO didn't scold you for missing a thief while you were doing this stuff.
Have you seen any trainings or rollouts on what it will look like?We start the pilot on March 5th. I'm part of the new Merchandise Ops team.
There are trainings in workday but I haven't done them yet
Sounds like a store specific issue. This just in: the brand new Please Steal From Us policy!
SCO attendants are not allowed to merely watch SCO and help cashiers/guests. Now they have to be stocking candy too.
I'm a dummy and I still sometimes feel like I'm the only one who cares about watching SCO for thieves.
Your job is checkout advocate. Not Target Security Specialist. If someone or something is sus, you are NOT to say anything to the guest. That is literally not your job. Its AP's.This just in: the brand new Please Steal From Us policy!

Degenerate central. There have been points where I was told to go up to guests if I saw them stealing and say 'hey I think you forgot to scan something' and I have 0 AP training whatsoever. I refused to and they never said anything more on the subject until the next time they decided it was a thing we should do.Your job is checkout advocate. Not Target Security Specialist. If your store is asking you to do this then your store is run by degenerates lmao.
That’s been for 3 years nowHave entertainment truck goto GM but have tech maintain zone / go-backs.
- Have a team pull and push priority.
- Have tech push their own truck.
- Keep beauty TMs in beauty and don't wipe the SS aspect from it. Tech and Beauty NEED TMs to know knowledge about their products "does this item react badly with this kinda skin" " Will this work on my mac" "what do you suggest for acne" etc.
I thought in this new reorganization that Tech became part of GM? Wouldn't that mean Entertainment falls to Tech again? Or at least legitimently could, since Tech is no longer grouped with Style and Beauty? My store started the pilot with the shifting of ETLs and TLs and TMs, so far, some people are pretty good with it. Others however are taking it pretty hard so far.
Beauty really got the short end of the stick ngl. They're told to just push (not pull) Chem, beauty, and pharmacy but there were literally 11 carts. Because of this beauty was the worst it's ever been before.
Tech doesn't have it bad (yet). We have people pushing trucks and pulling priority. This allowed us to make the floor look better and actually flex and fix counts. I sold 11 PS5s because I flexed them out. Because of that, I brought in 5.5K of sales!
Morning tech gets pulled to do some side tasks, and help toys with a new transition, or Plano set. Push a cart here and there. I like it so far.
Glad we legit never have to really touch books again LOL.
I think modernization brought a ton of good but also tons of bad. we should go into a hybrid mode.

It feels like it's... oscillating right now. Things are changing. But feels like it's stabilizing.
Keep yall updated
Correct . High volume store will continue to keep it separate with their own Etl and TlI thought in this new reorganization that Tech became part of GM? Wouldn't that mean Entertainment falls to Tech again? Or at least legitimently could, since Tech is no longer grouped with Style and Beauty?
well yes but all our job is is to Push. no backstocking and no pulling. that’s it.I thought in this new reorganization that Tech became part of GM? Wouldn't that mean Entertainment falls to Tech again? Or at least legitimently could, since Tech is no longer grouped with Style and Beauty?
we’re a HV store but not THAT HV.Correct . High volume store will continue to keep it separate with their own Etl and Tl
This just makes me more interested in seeing the volume leadership breakdown. We are approaching the threshold for a ETL-F&B due to sales but I wonder if that'd change with this.Correct . High volume store will continue to keep it separate with their own Etl and Tl
My store didn't meet goal last year (mind you like 86 mil tho) So we actually lost an ETL and its our GM ETL so now the F&B ETL is going to be F&B ETL.This just makes me more interested in seeing the volume leadership breakdown. Not nothing... they are straaaategizing. So this is why I see so many ETLs walking around the store with Starbucks doing absolutely nothing.
If I see a guest not scan something on the bottom of the cart, I can politely ask guest if they forgot about the item. If they were trying to steal it mostly likely they would say they changed their mind. If the honestly forget they would scan it.Your job is checkout advocate. Not Target Security Specialist. Leaders who are taking on new roles are just feeling around in the dark learning as they go because they won't send anyone to train and they are getting frustrated and starting to feel overwhelmed because there is so much they don't know and have a short time to figure it all out.So, any updates?
Depends of the store volume . For example I have 4 inbound tl , one owns receiving and truck unload , one owns push and salesfloor, one own plano /price change and one owns backroom and instocks .Anyone know who for sure who is responsible for saleplans with this pilot
Yes, but checkout advocates do need to ensure all items are scanned, priced and paid for properly. If an item doesn't look like it scanned or reflects wrong price, they should offer to assist the guest. AP confronts and apprehends.Your job is checkout advocate. Not Target Security Specialist. I never do this. I'm sorry but with all the nutjobs out there I am not going to even vaguely hint that something may not have been scanned. You may think it's not confronting, but I've known shoplifters, even had one in my family, and it 100% is confrontation to them. I'm not out here trying to get shot over a $40 bathing suit or a $10 bottle of wine.Yes, but checkout advocates do need to ensure all items are scanned, priced and paid for properly. The changes happen so quickly. It really depends on what manager is working that day. I keep watch and report to AP if I see stuff but I don't walk up to them. I suppose that's why I'm not put on SCO much. That's how it used to be. Seems Spot has come full circle.
