And? I've got over two years at Target, another year with specialty retail, and a great financial background. Do I care if my entry level position wages are the same as an 18 year old who started 3 weeks ago and Target is their first job? No. After all, raising the starting wage for that person didn't cause them to lower my wage. It's not like my job duties are any different than the 18 year old's, I'm simply faster at it.
If I were in an industry where the position isn't entry level or if additional experience led to additional duties, then yeah, I would expect to make more, and negotiating for more would be expected on both sides. But folding clothes and pushing z's is not that situation.
That is exactly the issue. The team members who have been there and making the same way are being held to a different standard. For the same wage they are expected to be better than new hires. They are expected to not only fold the clothes but set the merchandise, do price changes, flex into other areas for the same wage as new hires. Nope not fair at all.
