How’d it go today

For the first time in years we had a line outside before opening: 100 swag bags, 10 with 'extra special' goodies.
Amazingly, no homicides which is amazing in an open-carry state.

At our store, people came in to get the swag bags, and immediately walked back out with them. Nobody proceeded to shop, which I assume was the goal.

Pretty organized at our store . People were given tickets and many of them did shopping after the event . They were given free Starbucks sample sized coffee and cookies while waiting in the line outside .

We probably had 5x as many people at store open compared to last year. Even if most of them didn't buy much it was still a win.

We have a small overnight team for the holidays plus we took a truck. People were inline at midnight when they came in. I came in at 4 and there were easily a hundred people in line. Freaking nuts. I would never nor have I ever waited inline when I don’t even know what’s in the bag. Chatter I’ve seen is guests were disappointed. Duh!

1st guy got the standard nothing bag. 😀

We did ~$200k in the first hour before I went home. Came back at night to take more trucks and ended up at just over a million in sales at closing, 1st time in company history the million mark was broken.

Funny thing, we didn't even meet sales goal...

No wonder people were ticked off getting that little collection in a “swag” bag. Corporate is so out of touch these days that all they seem to be able to accomplish is ticking people off, but they are certainly expert at that. Target will be paying a high price in yet more guest dissatisfaction for dangling that carrot to get people in line at 6am. Sad.🙁

Technically according to the rules anyone who lined up before 4am wasn’t technically allowed to line up. I think no stores followed that policy except for maybe ones very close to corporate

I guess the stores were too busy unloading a 12am truck and picking 35000 sfs units to spend resources on that fight.
