Archived how to make the time go by faster

Actually, taking my break as late as possible makes time go by faster for me. I like taking a break, and then coming back to work and seeing I only have an hour left to clock out.

Me too and that is I have that compliance fear. It is a code of honor fot me to never ask about my break

When you're zoning as hardcore as they want us to at my store, you're too focused to even notice time. I had a 7 hour shift the other day that literally felt like half an hour. I have to set timers on my phone so I don't miss breaks. Maybe I'm just crazy, but I don't think about time unless I have a reason to. And I guess in the strange thing that is my mind, breaks aren't important enough.

My break is important to me. I need that time to recharge. I can only pretend I love the color of the top the guest is buying or hand out stickers to what seems like mostly poorly behaved children for so long before I am just plain tired. Gimme my 15, and I am good to go! Maybe if we had front end coverage like we used to I wouldn't be so burnt out. Back to the days where I could stock or FIFO candy, zone, etc...seems like a distant memory.

Don't get me wrong, I love my breaks. They're important to me too. But for some reason, I have this mentality of avoiding clocks, watches, etc. so I don't think about the time. It's a habit I developed while working a similar retail job at a family owned business before Spot. It was so dead in there all the time with absolutely nothing to do but wait to go home. Hours dragged on forever. The fact that I always have something to do at Target makes me focus more on work and getting it done than anything else.

This is exactly what I do too. Some days I just power through and take my 15 before I leave, or before lunch.

Where can I find that, don't have access to workbench?
I don't want to be labeled a 'complainer' either. Just want to survive my remaining time at Spot and be considered rehireable.

And most of my shifts are 5.5 or 5.75 hours because those apparently work best for Spot.
There should be a sign near your timeclock saying how breaks you are allow to have.

1. Zone your lane
2. SuperZone your lane
3. Clean your register
4. Clean the checklane belt
5. Clean out all the cubbyholes- wipe them down.
6. Ask to zone 1-spot
7. Ask to zone Excel
8. Ask to zone accessories
9. Restock all cleaning supplies (paper towels, eco-sorb, etc.) at each checklane
10. Check all candy for expiration dates
11. Ask your GSA/GSTL for a project
12. Zone your lane again

I wrote a paper many years ago called "How to become an excellent groundman." At one point I wrote something to the effect of "If you find yourself doing nothing while everyone else is working, you're doing something wrong. Ask your foreman for help about that."

There's always something that needs doing.

Check dates, the hen zone soft lines. It's the least cashiers can do with how they bring havoc onto the sales floor. Not cashiers fault, directly, but teamwork certainly goes both ways. Most cashiers won't step away from lanes. Just sit there and chatter back and forth with others.
