Sales Floor Let's meet in the Middle; an Electronics/Tech thread

Is anyone elses store slashing hours in tech department so bad, and giving them to other departments, that it's time to finally consider just getting out of the department? It's been a steady decline over the last years, to the point where the are only two of us getting under 30 because of it, with 5~ hour coverages.

Most nights our Closing TL has to go to Tech frequently because noone is there past 9.

Also Closing TL has to unlock vacuums and go to Ulta (which has to be staffed fully according to the contract).

they stopped doing everything except ATT an BoomerCellular afaik.

with that said. it seems like they’re getting replaced by those needy annoying ATT reps
I will have to remember "Boomer Cellular". 😂

One thing I have noticed is I almost never see the same ATT Rep twice.

They probably rotate them around because the reps know that they will never get any sales while at Target.

That was even longer ago. Verizon was removed from stores like...6? Years ago? I can't recall exactly.

My store was a Mobile plus pilot store, I remember having to send out all the verizon phones and just doing ATT until they sent out all the ATT phones and brought in the first iteration of the ATT vendors (We're on wave 4 or 5 of them now). ATT vendors have been in/out of target over the last 5 years I wanna say.

I don't know how bad you area is. The area I'm in right now, at the current wave, was ranked 1 in the US for their sales in the first few months, and now are still top 10. Some of those guys are making 100k a year

They're still annoying goons but they're definately making sales, and target gets a kickback on those which at this rate is probably more than we're doing in sales for Tech itself and they're getting the added bonus of not having to pay them to help guests.

I can agree with this, although their tactics might be a bit... unconventional... They do get sales. I spoke with them and they do get hit when a sale gets escalated if they customer is unhappy.

However, one day ours took the marketing materials out of the store and I never saw an ATT rep ever again. Even the ATT vendor comes every now and then wondering why they are not here. Seems they are on different pages.

no one:
absolutely no one:
not a single soul:

Samsung The Frame: Oh love, isn't it fabulous? Oh love, isn't it incredible? Oh love, isn't it astonishing? Oh my god. Keep talking talk, it doesn't even mean a thing!
Cat: *meow!*

this happened at my store almost two years ago, we are still contracted to have them but I haven't seen a soul since 2022.

Is anyone's Channel Red on the TV Wall noticeably 4K? I swear a guy came in like 4 years ago saying that he was here to upgrade it to 4K and to this day it still looks like very blurry 1080p. I am just wondering if he was supposed to do it but didn't and then it just has been forgotten about ever since.

I really don't know why they Target prefers Channel Red over the built in demo loops because Channel Red makes the TV upscale everything and its all blurry.

The wall is 4k.. the signal is 4k... the commercials are still all 1080p and it pretty much comes down to production cost of making 4k ads. You have to remember, broadcast tv is not 4k yet. All of cable, all of the networks are still 1080p so commercials are still 1080p. It is the saddest joke. I remind my guest all the time that our ad feed is not a good representation of how the TVs will look on high resolution content. The moment my cheapest tv hdmi port breaks and starts showing its demo pictures, it looks better then all of my other TVs.

We still maintain 2 fullish shifts in my tech but it is particularly dead there a lot in the evenings, I am always going to other areas to help out. It helps that we have mobile techs that don't suck. They will sell almost everything and have no problem going back to get airpods without me.

And yea, no one bought the oled or frame TVs until they went on clearance. We do squat to demo them after all. I will be excited when we get the soundbars installed. I can never stand the default sound of TVs.

Don’t think so. I’m pretty sure everything is 1080 60hz

looks more consistent and promotes the things that profit Turget a lot more like SBUX. Just went to a store that did all tvs on demo mode and it looked really bad imo

With that said, i set the speciality TVs like the OLED and the Frame and such to its respective demo mode. looks wayyy better.

AND it’s easier to compare between them when they’re on channel red.

Westinghouse used to be a good brand, right?

Same with Sharp. They used to make premium TVs that were really good. Quite a downfall for them. They still make decent TVs, but they're all outsourced budget ones, no different from Vizio and TCL. Which are good for the price, but Sharp used to be on par with Samsung and LG.

They were always fine but cheap. Nothing special about them, low quality panels. Hasn't burned down any targets yet.
