All of our GS registers flipped. They left us zero Classic POS in the store. Thanks, guys. Nobody can pay bills now. And returns cannot be overridden in any way at all. Really screws up my job where a lot of what I do is judging when we should make exceptions. Lots of apologies today.

That sucks. They were supposed to leave one on Classic POS. Someone at your store can call CSC and have them flip one back.

POS stands for Piece of Shit, right?

lol, it really is terrible. I miss the keyboard.
Bruh why didn't they make the keyboard work with the new system.
I use to be fast as Hell on that Numpad typing in my TM number. Now I gotta sit there and wait for this touch screen and go back because I hit the wrong number 6 times in a row...
If they made the keyboard work with it then maybe it wouldn't be as bad but until they do that its absolute trash.

did nobody think to call csc or is your store just addicted to suffering

So a guest had to make a payment and our only classic registers was restarting but for some reason wasn’t load so we had to keep restarting it. The guest was waiting for over an hour to make a payment. Very patient asf but I still don’t understand if why you would update every single register without ALL the features and only have one that does because if that one crashes we’re screwed until it takes the 15 minutes to reload.

May I also request a quick link button on the regular checkout screen that sends you straight to the guest service screen?

And please figure out the exchange function ASAP. Absolutely ridiculous that we have to tell guests that if they want to exchange, they have wait for the old POS register. The other day we had a small line of guests who had transactions that could only be done on that one register.

why not just do two separate transactions. prior to the conversion less than 5% of my total service desk transactions were actual exchanges, there are other ways to do that without inconveniencing your guests

Do two separate transactions. You can only do exchanges on the old pos if there aren’t any discounts and a red card wasn’t used. Corporate specifically removed the K1 exchange feature because there were too many problems when items had discounts and the 5% off with a red card wasn’t getting added. Too many problems were created so they had to remove the feature and it shouldn’t be used anymore. That’s why sometimes when you do K7 sell items it doesn’t allow it because it detects a discount.

How many registers do you have? Most stores have 4-5 registers at guest services. We have 2 on the old system. If your ETL approves you can call the help desk and request for a register to be switched to the old system.

Corporate thought they could save a couple bucks by getting rid of it and I think they are creating a new register design that will hide the whole computer and just the touch screen would be visible. I heard they are adding it back to guest services but that may just be a rumor. I agree it was nice having it especially for guest services but the check lanes don’t really need it.

are you kidding? money can take up to 2-3 business days to clear back into account if it's debit or credit. So many guests don't want to wait for that or quite literally don't have enough money in their account to do two separate transactions. And don't suggest gift card because then if they later need to return they can't get the money back as anything other than a GC.

sucks to be them

edit: like sorry i am not trying to be flippant but i don't really care about those people. i work in retail, my priority is providing the best service to the widest possible range of people, wringing my hands over literally less than 1 in 10 people is just going to give me more gray hair than i already have. give them a gift card, wait for your classic register to be online, or make them deal with it and move on

If that does happen, you could tell the guest to keep all the receipts and they can explain the situation and can get it overridden to get it back in cash.

I'm IGS so far more than 1 in 10 people do exchanges at my store. So yes, it is in the interest of giving best service to have the exchange option available. And before you tell me that per Corp. IGS is obsolete...it's not and my store is not in line to have it removed anytime soon.

sorry that you are the redheaded stepchild of target, i would be curious to see your actual returns as exchanges % from greenfield

I think my store is a AA store and we only have 3 GS registers. Prior to remodel we had 4. We do a good amount of exchanges as well. Since removing the even exchange button, we do a lot more returns and then send the guest to the check lanes to buy what they need. I'm glad one only has the old POS because everyone avoids the new POS like the plague and while it has some negative points, it shows a lot of promise.

I might have found a potential bug on the New POS, today. I had a guest using a formula rebate check, a merch card, and a gift card. We ran the rebate check first and it acted as it should. Then we scanned the gift card and it deleted the rebate check payment. I ended up taking the money off as a paper coupon. Both the merch card and the gift card removed the rebate check payment.

Found a useless bug today. If your register is running the Linux system if you hold down on the text that says Sign In to where it highlights a word, then just login. It just does a fast restart lol.
