A CAF is a batch of merchandise automatically created by the system to replenish the sales floor. Either the sales floor team or backroom team is responsible for pushing (stocking) the merchandise that comes out on the CAFs.
The purpose of a 4x4 is to ensure that a section of the sales floor is zoned exactly to planogram, sufficiently stocked, and not missing any labels, signs, or displays. As a sales floor TM, when doing 4x4s, your responsibility is to superzone the aisles you've been assigned and note any problems (missing labels, items out of stock without a gray dot, missing signage, etc.) so other teams can follow up.
3. Could you possibly describe the responsibility of a hardlines team member during a normal shift and during Black Friday. Thanks for the help!
In a normal shift, it depends on the time of day and how busy it is. You might be zoning a department, working re-shop, pushing CAFs, or working on projects assigned by your TL. Always check in with your TL or the LOD to see what you'll be doing.
For Black Thursday, it really depends on the time of day/night. In the earliest shifts, you'll be swamped with guests and answering questions, directing guests to hot items, etc. Once the line dies down (this may take a few hours depending on your store volume and guest turnout), you'll likely be pushing CAFs (don't be surprised if it's toys). If the store quiets down at any point in the ungodly hours of the morning, you might be zoning and working re-shop. And of course, listen out for back-up calls at the front lanes.
Think of the busiest day you've worked so far. Multiply it by 300 quadrillion, then add steroids and 86 shots of espresso, and you have Black Thursday.
