MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

My signing pallet last week had every box miss marked. I had pets signing in rtw boxes, soft lines signing in hardlines sales planner boxes , and the plaid signing came in loose on the truck all smashed to hell.
That is so messed up. I haven't noticed that things are in the wrong boxes but our plaid signing came in the exact same way as yours did. Under pallets of merchandise smashed up.

Do all the plaid overheads for the end caps go up? Most don't have locations or future dates. Should I just put up what matches the header?
We put up every one. There are some that don't match what is there right now but the sales floor team will just set those endcaps there this week. We wanted it done so we just hung everything where our ETL said the endcaps would go.

Yours knew where they were going? I hate you. The only reason it got set well is because I've printed every guide for it I've ever seen in anticipation of this. Sltl wanted it in the middle of rtw for Adam. Not the front. Didn't even rearrange space though. Apparently that was on me. Endcaps not set, stuff not pushed. I ran out of ceiling clips....

Just so I can get this straight, the endcaps where plaid overheads need to go are in:
1. Domestics (throw pillows/blankets)
2. Sporting Goods
3. Luggage
4. Pets
5. HBA (listerine)
6. Check lanes (?)
7. Stationary
8. Infants

I think I'm probably missing something here but as far as I can remember that's it...

I went in late Saturday night to put up the Plaid overheads while Ad was staying up there anyway, but there were several problems I encountered that will have to wait until this week instead of being up at launch --
(a) the "spider" portions (shaped like [_o_] ) are not designed the same as shown on the instructions -- they don't have their own loops to clip onto, they just have a hole that +---0 shaped One-ups go into. I seem to recall some long-ago overheads that required actual wire support lines did have those style spiders, but not the normal variety;
(b) I ran out of spiders really fast. I had enough to normally cover 2-3 season's worth of overheads, but maybe just 2 of these overheads blasted away my entire supply if using all Oneups as directed.. In order to hang them all up, I'll have to use a [: . ' . ' . ' :] configuration.. two on the ends, and then diagonal placement between;
(c) I didn't even receive the red FOS version, arguably the most valuable/necessary;
(d) there are some serious AP-related problems with camera angles that these overheads now block almost completely (and lighting is also problematic for people that stock during half-lamp strength);
(e) our store has poles down some racetracks, so I'll have to cut holes into them to get them up properly;
(f) the booster supply of 12" Oneups is woefully inferior to the kind I've gotten on order, the boosters are rough and scratchy to handle whereas normal ones have rounded edges.. if you're going to be handling a million of them, that tends to matter..

Also, check out the genius who designed the ceiling spider arrangement on the instructions.. it's supposed to show where the spider clips might connect to the grid if your tiles are facing one direction or the other.. The tile or the connection orientation (one or the other) should be sideways, not both of them, otherwise it's just the same as rotating the first diagram sideways.

I only got one of them up before I the reality of the a-e problems sunk in, so I decided to just wait until the week-of to set the rest. Especially problematic will be the FOS version, because we're just a GM store and we're somewhat tiny. Our entrance area is about as wide as 2 racetracks and not very long, so hanging this over it may seriously compromise security camera angles of the entrance and down onespot.

On another note, is there a way to see the receipt of an older shopping cart? I lost my printed receipt. I know how to access shopping carts on shop. It gives the list of POs but it doesn't really help me identify the parts that were ordered
Whenever I make a shopping cart, I rename the string of numbers (on the screen that says 'note to approver') in the title with the items that were ordered, for quicker reference. I also save every PDF of receipts and store them in MySite, for quicker reference because it is like kicking puppies trying to pull up old receipts. Depending on how old the receipt is, you may have gotten an email saying 'receipt ... was approved' and it has a link that takes you to a page to get a copy of the receipt again quickly, although the page loads slow and you have to log in 20 times it seems like. I made an outlook folder to drag-drop order confirmations into, as a backup.

Our red FOS overhead didn't fit where it wanted it so I made the decision to put it down the racetrack in between RTW and accessories where Adam Lippes was being set. My ETL and STL were fine with it.

The good thing about my ETL's is they like to plan like I do and we plan together with things like this. My ETL SF made sure that SL was prepared and did their part and I made sure my signing TM knew what was going on and was able to get her help to hang the overheads. That sucks that you had to do everything yourself. 🙁

We have one in between Market and Home Storage

My etl hl gave me the plaid audit tool and it looks like many of the endcaps that need plaid overheads aren't even being set this week, so I'm just holding off on them. After the christmas set a few years ago where we had those huge heavy cardboard garlands throughout the store I just ordered a TON of every type of overhead loop hook so that I'd never almost run out again; that set I ended up using all my 18"s and 12"s, and ended up having to hang some of the overheads with nothing but 6"s so it didn't look that great.

My pptl came in with me and managed to misread directions when she wasn't working on other things or wasting time connection ceiling hooks before we got to the floor. Bbg backer is on men's, threw out the men's cause she thought they were the same. This is going to linger all month, I just know it.

This whole plaid signing set is a big waste of time and money. We set Christmas signing in a month so how long will this plaid be up. With the hours given, by the time I get everything up I will have to take it down. Don't have enough hooks, with a 17 foot ceiling, one fos set needs over 100 hooks. Wasting time just sorting out old hooks that are brittle. Haven't even started with the big plaid grids, 2 days of signing hours this week. Oh well. Don't worry about this stuff anymore. What gets done, gets done! Don't think they realize how big this project is!

They realized, but dont care. Find a way. Each plaid overhead says it takes 1.5 hours. Thats about right including sorting out tangled hooks, and dealing with the trash. I found it was easier to hang all the hooks first (26 sets) with my oneup pole, then taking 2 panels at a time up with the WAV to hook, then going back over to screw them together. About an hour. Very involved. Took me about 10 hours to complete everything. Guests love the stuff though. Go figure.

Just a couple small apps displays. No vehicles and of course I got crap for parking the pallet on the floor....

Got this plus another pallet a foot high on truck, mostly lamp displays. Wtf. Won't even fit in the signing trailer without being knocked down.

I envy you your signing trailer. I get half of a section (bottom two shelves) in our bulk area for signing. Flow TL let me palletize those damned displays today and put them in the steel, though.

I get two shelves in the back corner of receiving behind the soda vendor space 🙁

Until they want you to work safe and it's raining. Putting the ramp down means three feet of wet metal and wood flooring and concrete. Not putting the ramp down makes six inches of wet metal and six inches of wet wood, but is a super duper no-no. Going to have to talk to stl and ap about possibilities for fixing that...cause I'm done pretending to be safe but risking a broken leg to actually be safe-ish.
