MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

Anyone know? Esupport has been no help. I told them all the model numbers and they got back, telling me that those displays had been discontinued. DUH! Thats why I'm asking...

just give it to your store receiver. they just go back regular CRC. no paperwork needed.
if you want to you can go back on the message boards, there was a message board about it a while ago.

I HAD a located fixture room. Big waste of time. We just don't have the equipment readily available to make it time efficient to make sure every part is scanned in and out.

Now, if they would install a permanent scanner in the fixture room, then maybe it could work.

That is just too easy. Over $1000 worth of ereaders put on a recycling pallet. Bet they never make it.....

generally probably the case. i mean think about it - the people here actually want them to get where they are going - just think about all those stores where no one knows or cares what to do with the stuff. heck - if i didn't do it at my store probably no one would know what to do with 1/2 our stuff. there is legitimately a workbench message saying to send it out CRC. but just like 90% of the other displays its not like they check on it. our kindle fire disappeared (stolen or removed by AP i don't know) and was never to be seen again. we just had a rep come in and replace a torn-off set of display headphones, but we found those to give to her. anyway. i put mine into a box (we had 2 to send back, go figure), taped it up, told me receiver what was in it along with a printout of the workbench message and out it went.

anyone have a located fixture room? wins? ops?

Ours is sort-of so. The fixture DPCI's are located but they're so common that everyone knows where they belong anyway. Personally, I don't see the point. It's not like when you drop a NEW POG fill, it also generates a pull for fixtures (lol what an idea) and I don't think fixture DPCIs are listed on planograms anyway, so not like you could punch in the numbers for 9 inch peghooks and get the fixture room location for em. Oh wait, they're in those 6 gray bins right at the front of the room...

It would be semi-convenient to locate perfect placement displays for large sets like Electronics and have those come out in the POG pull, but that would be more for the times where your signing TM isn't around to get them for the team, when he is probably the one who put them away and thus knows where they all are (and who would schedule the electronics reset without the signing tm?)

We have the barcodes on the grey bins but nothing is located. We tried to locate the fixtures but it never worked for us. We put the pictures that they sent us on the grey bins and if we do not have any of the pictures we write on a piece of paper what's in the bin and tape it on.

I like using the Adhesive bike rack signholders for the bins and print out the 3x5s for them on the computer. Looks neater and I can change the box for something else easily.

so i wasnt around in pogland when the fixture room went located. what was the point of locating it? fixtures aren't generated in a fill? why bother?

we use the adhesive signholders too. i also mounted a section of pegboard to hang fencing and sl bars on it. much better than having them up top.
do any of you use the large (very large) grey bins that are for pharmacy documents for storage? they each hold around 12 repacks.

Anybody else had challenges with the new rules on shelves?
We had to pull down all the back up ones we had and of course retrain everybody to not flip them over.
Not looking forward to the next major transition when we have to trundle out a couple of pallets of wrapped up shelves.

is that what the new rules are for shelving? no flipping shelves to slide between (ie all must be mounted into wall?) haven't heard anything about it at the store, just here.

also - does anyone have better solutions to storing your biggest shelves? ie waterwall, soda shelves, etc? i HATE having them on the wall. the ETLs always want them up top (but who wants to get them up or down? not me, that's for sure), and having them down low creates spacing issues. do other stores just palletize?

also - odd shelves - like tiered entertainment, or stationary tiers, etc....wall mount - or put it in steel? trying to hoards organizational ideas before we have to redo the fixture room.

We've got all our entertainment odds and ends up on the top shelves of the electronics stockroom shelving, but it works out for us because that's right next to the fixture room. I kind of feel like we have way more than we actually need.

Our 28 and larger shelves just have one little section way up on the wall but there aren't that many there, 10 or 12. I haven't heard anything about this new no-flipped shelves rule. Hopefully that's not company-wide because then we're ****ed. Our wall is stuffed full and we also have 3 pallets of excess 4x18 shelves, one of cooler/freezer and one of softlines 4x14. Ridiculous. We need to get rid of some.

Honestly I don't see a problem flipping the shelves upside down. If its done right, its very safe. One space between hung shelves, and One upside down, front in, shelf placed in between.

I hang all shelves according to style, shape, except entertainment shelving is stored up in the steel, nested by size. I do have a pallet of 18" shelving stored in the alcove for Xmas...

I tossed all my extra stationary tiers awhile back. Hadn't needed them in over a year, so I felt confident to lighten the load.

Talk to your SFT.
The instructions came to ours from the main office with pictures (including upside-down shelves) and everything.
Due date for completion was end of this month.

Yeah, we have a Field Project to handle the location of shelving, but honestly, the scope of work for this is going to take more than what I have left to work on this month. I'll organize a plan with my Plano TL and STL, but the FP likely won't be done for a bit longer.

Hi Guys

Does anyone have a sign/poster on their Domestics endwall, and by endwall I mean the back endcap that is blank (the front endcap is the pillow dump bin). I was in a store a while back, and saw that they had one, but all the other stores in my area don't. If so, can you provide the numbers. Thanks.

Yes, I'll get that for you tomorrow. It came as a 4 ft but our blank endcap is 3 feet so I had to cut it to fit.

Oooo! I would need that too. I've never had one either.

What aisles did you put the Snacks To Go headers on? I have 50 headers, none are being called out for on the planograms.

Really short on hours here and it doesn't leave me much time to research any problems that may arise.

The outer and inner aisles where the Snacks to Go Endcap is. So if the end cap was on G17/G18 then the headers go down G16, G17, G18 and G19 the whole aisle.

I thought we were missing the top baskets for the snack focal because we built it before we did the candy aisle.
Of course the baskets in the gum section go right in and now I've ordered three more baskets.

Anybody have an idea how to get the focal to line up with the red line like they want on message board?
I mean without moving the entire section back a foot.

The instructions had you demerch the entire gondola and then PUSH the gondola back, I think 22". We have a ton of those furniture mover pads, crowbar them under the supports, then call all guys over and just give it a shove. If you skipped this part....OOOOPS!
