MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

bleh. patio. someone wanna give me some pointers? a brilliant leader is scheduling my top two tm elsewhere that week. we've set a couple of aisles, hoping the clear the flat tomorrow so we can start building.

The overhead sun is going to be the biggest build for the patio set. I would suggest hanging it before building the furniture because you will need the space to move around. You will need 2 people on 2 waves to hang the sun because it is long. The table is pretty easy to build. All the rest of the signing is the same as usual - shelf talkers, 3x5 price holders, brochure holders, etc.

Oh frell, that doesn't bode well.
The chances of me getting any help on projects like that are pretty much nill.

I'm so glad I didn't throw out the old I-tunes header when I got the Valentines one because, of course, the new one was too small.

Although it is a piece that you really need help building, I was able to hang the sun with 1 wave. I just double hooked it and hung the center hooks first, then quickly moved to the outer sides. I would suggest hanging the first sun close to the racetrack as some of the umbrellas interfere if you don't.

How many times are they going to do that with the iTunes header? I think this is the 3rd time they've made it too small.

The first time they sent the too-small size, we just flipped another header backwards and used adhesive foam cubes (not the tape) to stick the iTunes one onto the white backside of the other one. It stuck out an inch and thus had a 3D effect, almost like they had designed it that way. We all thought it was much better than a boring, flat header.

we didn't get our sun. :cray:

and i wish i would've looked more carefully at the stupid display shippers that had to be built for patio chem/decor. what a PITA. seriously, i would think the powers that be could have found product with shippers included, or at least came up with something thats not mixed together in 1000 pieces.

and i have to deal with the sletl this week. i love softlines weeks, because its SO SO SO easy, but man. that etl drives me crazy. it doesn't bode well for the rest of my week. ok. done complaining. thanks for reading, lol 😉

The sun isn't hard just big and obnoxious.
Tried to explain to them, it says 3 hours with 2 people for a reason.

Yea the sun is just a pain in the arse, i took my time and built it in 3 hours, took down the stupid in with the new box, and hung the sun, i didnt even bother screwing the two big ones together, my luck a clip will break and id rather just the one fall not both. Then i broke my signing pole, i think made my tl day when i told her i pulled on my pole to hard and it wont stay up

Any idea what they were boxed as so i know what to work on early? Did all my overheads last night. it will be all floor stuff tonight.

Did the sun alone. It's possible but a PITA. much more possible if you follow the instructions and hang from the back of the set forward and start with the big sun and end with the smallest (because of the way they hang). I, on the other hand just jumped into hanging and started with the front one, being stubborn, didn't take it down and just dealt with it. it was fine, thought the ceiling grid might come down for a minute but then it was fine.

i think the boxes just say patio inline, but they are almost as large as the overhead boxes. it's two cartons. they're the shippers for waterglobes/picks/magnetic stuffs. for example... first you fold the base. the the insert bases (2 parts). then flaps (5 parts per inner base), then half of them get styrofoam stuffed in it to help the stuff stand up. they wouldn't be so bad, but the list they send gives you the product dpci and references the part #... and all the part # for the boxes are incorrect for what we received and is mixed together. scan your bottom base that forms the box and find it in the big instruction list. once you get it built, you can look at the pictures and use the dpcis to see what goes where. also, the waterglobes won't fit in the shipper holes w/out being modified, and although the instructions say that the inner bases should match (2 garden pick bases with holes in one box, example), there is at least one that is actually split with holes on one side (butterfly picks) and a solid base on the other (serenity stones). it's actually way easier than reading what i just typed lol

We have last years curtain displays, in a box, does that count?

I think you all need to get in that fixture room and doing some cleaning!!

Those curtains are displays and should have been tossed by the Plano team. I came in this morning and our old displays were already taken care of by the team and they would have hung the new displays....IF there were any!

I'm missing 105 displays. I'm going to cry if MySupport tells me I have to order all of them on TIPP.

Pro tip: no one has ever asked me about curtain displays in my years of signing, i usually save them for a day im bored, but at my store i could just throw them away. Im waiting on infant displays i wonder if it will be like last year they never send them they hire the outside audit for stores and we still never get them,

I could never do that with the curtain displays. I don't care if anyone would catch it, I would know.

I have an eta of 2 weeks on the 6 infant displays I'm missing and if that comes and goes, I will be hounding them again.

our curtains are MIA as well.
anyone's doormat aisle lose the doormat fixtures and go to 18" shelves? it still refers to printing the labels for the doormat label holders, but no fixtures are listed except shelves.

noooooooooooooooooo

those are 2 of the only 3 boxes i didn't touch last night. so much for getting out of patio early.

this last page sounds like doom and gloom.

i have definitively NOT received any curtain displays. and i have had at least one set in the past where MySupport helpfully said "here are all the MD numbers you can order off of TIPP". then luckily or unluckily they are all not available in TIPP. fingers crossed for a late-to-store message board shortly. (and btw i could easily not set ours as well and no one would notice, but like TOT i can't do that. altough i ALWAYS have them ready my team is NEVER willing to put them up - they play the i don't know what to do card and essentially will not do it, and take the box into the backroom and leave it at the end of the day and never say a word - !!!! ugh.)

if doormats goes to 18" shelves that will be such a big PITA. flat or downswept with fencing? the fencing will never make it in our store.....

Ive never thrown them away just saying i could lol, i almost had it out with plano the other day they finally got back to wall art which i threw the bp away, they got pissy i said dont leave boxes on the ground open they get trashed, people just dump stuff and ive told them if you dont tell me or leave a note on it it goes to the compactor been a long week and its only tuesday D:

I love how the diameter on the holes for the water globe holders is the wrong size and how bloody complicated the little bins are considering what we had last year (oh, that's tight things came in shippers last year).
What is it with the adhesive for the pillow bins price point holders?
Just like last year, they promptly fell right off.

I hate when they leave stuff and expect me to put it back up. They think I have all the time in the world to go back and put signs/displays back up. I wish I could just throw everything away but then its going to come back and bite me.

If you think this week's been a long week, wait till the next two weeks. HBA and cosmetics coming up. Didn't we just set the hair care and hair color aisles about a month ago.

It amazes me that our teams been around the block, but they never check with me or just look for bins or shippers before they set, at least this year i was able to build the easter ones before yhey set and stocked it i mean its not like the planogram says anything.....

Thanks! I'll stop thinking about them. I just divided section 3's curtains into 1, so no one would flex anything into that first part

I just noticed that on the doormats when I was doing the PPAs. I say good riddance. Those fixtures were a pain when they reduced a section and we had to store them. BUT, the team set the plano on the old doormat shelves..... *sigh* Can't complain too much, they are ahead of schedule and really pushing to complete tasks ahead of time. Amazing how getting rid of 1 poor performer can make a difference!

I wish our plano team was ahead just seems our old tl is trying to stir trouble, we did fine with the amount of tm they had before the change but now some reason we are a week behind, seems someone is butt hurt

Our POG no longer showed the fixtures on it, but still referred to the labels, had no label strips, and nothing was communicated about removal in Transition Packet or early set notes. So we decided that they needed to stay up.
