MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

Did anybody else not get the signing for the CO2 soda makers?
Had to (shudder) mysupport it.

I thought it was supposed to be "installed" by a 3rd party vendor.

The way I read it was "received from a third party vendor",
Could be wrong though.

Been working on curtains, hating curtains.
Did the decorative hardware the other day.
Anyone else have a tough time getting those things to go in and out of the frame?
I recommend a little WD40, works like a charm.

Like cones would stop a guest. When I worked at a Greatland store and had to use a hydraulic lift, I would put out the legs and cones, and guests would actually run into the huge thing. "Oh, I didn't see you!" :dash2:

 Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Perhaps stanchions would be a better idea, Spot?

That could have been it. Would make more sense too. Haven't seen that yet either though.

Any tips for getting through those curtains? I have those boxes just staring at me in the back. With TIPP down this might be my second project on Friday.
We had some trouble with our hardware tiles too. Thanks for the WD40 tip.

For the curtains, I separated them into aisles and section first. I had 7 areas. I just scanned each curtain and put it in the appropriate repack box that I had marked. D35 section 1 for example. As far as within each section, I honestly didn't worry about that, because if there is a revision to remove one kind, it is easy enough to see which one should be removed without them having to be in exact order per the planogram.

The only problem I had with the knob tiles were that they were too long by about 1/4 inch when put in the plastic runner altogether. I put in a service request for the SFT and had him remove that much off the end piece. He was soooooo happy to do it for me cause I went to the trouble of putting in the request.

I found on the knob display tiles that a large amount of that food grade silicon gel worked to get them in and out.

I did the same thing, sorting the curtains by section first.
Dump all the old ones because you will have duplicates.
And I didn't worry about the order, frell that.

I sorted the curtains by section too. The reason for all the duplicates is that they replaced the Target Home name on the old displays with Threshold. The only old curtains that stayed up was the Nate Burkus ones.

For the knob display there's nothing a hammer can't do. Just hit the frame a little and then it slide in perfectly.

For once, my knobs fit in like a charm. Took me all of 20 minutes to finish. Times past, I've had to shave each one with a box cutter to get them to fit.

LOVE the new One Spot signs. I had 2 extras, so I cut them down to fit in the backside of the Savor Spot signholders. Looks pretty good.

we still never got our ball pin display for the big balls.

We've been using the same one for years now. We store ours in the back of the fixture room when not in use.

Anyone else see that TIPP has changed to SAP? I tried it and it looks better organized. We'll see once I have signs/parts/displays to order. The only thing that sucks is that I lost all my favorites. Now I have to go back and find all the parts/signs that I saved to my favorites.

anyone dig into HBA yet? haven't gotten our strips/sign pallet yet. thought they should've been in monday. would like to get a head start.

Got three pallets in. One pallet was just gondola parts for the retrofit. Every aisle is updating signing with new backerpaper. No more grey fading to white backerpaper, now just white. Haven't opened any of the boxes yet to see what the new signing is yet.

We are going to try to start this week on the aisles not affected by the retrofit.

The signing box for HBA is the most obnoxiously big box ever, worse than the ribbon boxes from Christmas a few years back.

I don't know about SAP.
Maybe once I get used to it, things wont be so bad but right now it's a pain in the butt.
Reminds me of Windows 2000.

We've been using the same ball bin for at least three years.

So my store wants to do the healthcare retrofit in one night. They want us to set 6 aisles in one night because of all the aisle moves with only 7 people. I started to break down the signing boxes. Looks like mostly header changes.

new signing for hba is a piece of cake. all plain white backer, headers have 2 clips and a grey bar to hold them. anyone else have massive shelf size changes? almost all of ours went to 14", but we didn't change them. we don't keep that many on hand, especially pushers. the old pogs were all 18".

I bet the old POGs were for 14"s and were set incorrectly.

All of our aisles that we did last night were 14" except for 1 aisle of 18". Our store doesn't use zone free dividers anymore since they break all the time. We use adhesive dividers and pull strip dividers (the one from stationary).

There's a lot of confusion with the new pharmacy bulkhead. If you have rails DO NOT REMOVE THE RAILS. Hang the sign from the rails if your store has them. If you do not have rails utilize the brackets that were sent with the sign. If you hang from rails you mus "bow" the sign. Do this by hanging the 2 outer hooks to the farthest rail in. (Closest to wall) then the middle hook on the farthest rail from the wall.

We had 2 rails (on each side of the old bulkhead). My SFT wanted to try use those, but I talked him out of it.

Putting up the new bracket only took about 20 minutes to install, and looks very clean when complete.
