MEGATHREAD Signing Tips, Tricks and Quips (along with howls of despair)

Hey guys.. for some reason all of my iron displays are gone . Every one over the last week. Can u recall if theyre on sap or boxstock? Im having a mental lapse.

I've found it to be about 80% displays they send out with 20% things we have to take out of stock.
At least lately, back in the day it was mostly out of stock.
Now the problem I've run into is that all too often is that even with the #'s off the planograms the ordering system has no idea what the frell you are talking about.

Did you check up at guest services?
For some reason a lot of my displays wind up there.

Also check receiving's CRC pallet.

If you check the recent planogram, it should list all the display# and what isn't on that will be out of box.

This time, neatly write the display # on the sole plate.

I just ordered a bunch of displays on SAP and it didn't reject any of them. Maybe SAP doesn't reject out of stock displays like TIPP did?

Interestingly enough we haven't had irons on pog for a while now. Back when we did they were all out of box stock though. sewing machines still come in as displays though. I think i remember a recent workbench message during that transition to cut all the cords on iron displays though?

I'd love to find that message.

it was sent to the sfts. i dont recall it being on the pog message board. our sft is lazy and didnt do it.

sorted the electronics signs by aisle today. haven't had time to really dig into it. any special notes to look at?

The displays sent last month had the cords already cut. The ones that were carry forward, I cut the cords myself, but then I always defect the displays and cut cords.

Do you cut them long and attach them to the holder or cut them off completely?

The ones they sent were short, but i cut mine long, so I can wrap it a couple times. I think it helps keep the display in the correct position. I write the md # directly on the sole plate.

I just repackaged my irons and ordered all the displays, one iron costs 38 bucks all the displays total was like 35 for all iron displays, i havent posted in awhile just bad mojo at my store pog was behind, i set shoes, the 10 domestics aisles, intimates, and they still only set 2 or 3 aisles in the time i set almost all of that weeks domestics in one day, i told the etl i trust seriously are you Fing serious, no reason for that, some reason no one coaches that team on multiple issues no progress no coaches no action the same buddy buddy 5 people in an 8 foot section i havent helped them since i proved my point with the dom/shoes/intimates ive "found" things to keep busy lol

anyone have a part # for generic camera boat backer cards? what about the HBA light up fixtures that go along the wall and cosmetics aisles (they have gray headers that say "beauty" "nail care" etc. that slide into them). We tore one apart today looking for #s, but they either don't have them or we're blind and i have no idea how to pull them up in sap successfully.

finally put out the two boxes of 10000 curtains today. three tubs of signs down, couple more to go. our hba pallets FINALLY came in, just in time for the electronics reset 😉

Are you looking for the gray wood chips or the shelftalkers that go in the camera signholders?

On the cosmetic light fixtures, sounds like you haven't been remodeled and have the old valances? If I remember right, those were misspelled in TIPP, and if you type in "valences" or "valenses", you might find it. I used to have the part numbers written down somewhere, I'll email myself so I remember and take a look.

Sounds like you are starting to catch up!!

shelftalkers. yes, we are super old and everything is falling apart. our remodel keeps getting pushed back. thanks for the TIPP! 😉
finally catching up. everything signing has been late the last couple of weeks and has really thrown us in a bind. plus, our hours are mysteriously disappearing to the salesfloor's forecast. thanks to you guys for helping me out so much! i really appreciate it!

i see some great tips coming out from all the "friends of signing" here on this board. man. i wish we all worked in the same store. i mean - how else in the world would you get a tip like "oh you have to misspell that word to find it" like seriously this place is a goldmine (targetoldtimer alone answers so many unanswerable questions its ridiculous).

reading this i realize i completely forgot about curtain displays. oops. just put up the missing section of our hardware displays (we were missing one fixture). electronics is getting there. the major displays are still left to do (beats, gopro, headphones). my ptl wanted to do what signingminoutaur's did, and while i feel bad that kind of flounders in the position and doesn't have very good ETL support (gets set up to fail sometimes) it would have been a bad move. a shift to a different tl role would be better but leadership does not want.

oh, a tip to anyone who may not have noticed - but notice how the small signs for all the dom trend runs have been coming in the backer paper boxes and not separately? they are doing that now with a lot of them. i had to dump out the apple backer paper boxes today after i noticed the TMs didn't use any of it only to find some signs stuck in there - so just be aware.

was there a booklet for the (non destination) beauty? i feel like i remember seeing part #s for the old valances. could have just been in an old all store signing book (the "new store" spiral bound one).

random q - does anyone have a ptl that doesn't set at all? i know we have talked about this before but just a rehash of old info.

I have to agree, this board has saved me on more than one occasion and in general keeps me sane.
Targetoldtimer is a treasure.
I'm was going to pull down the frelling elctronics pallets to get a head start but they started the hva set late and so I was struggling to catch up.
Should be fun to break it all down on Monday.
Thanks for the heads up.
That's why I come here.

the portable elec/apples/tv/acc/dvd have been a breeze. minimum backer changes. a few new headers. watch out for the gps section--it shrinks and gets all new displays (they look tons better!). dreading the battery move the most. bleh.

batteries wasn't bad. physically taking down and then stocking the batteries is probably the worst.
