MEGATHREAD Target myDevices

I hate how alerts--and I use the Reminders app for breaks and lunches--notifications interupt myWork app and the scanner stops working. @OtherGuy @UIguy

Yes and anytime the low battery message comes up, the scanner will stop working. and by the time i get it working again, the message will pop back up! so now the ipods are basically useless when they hit low battery

Few questions, about how long does it take for it get work again? And has anyone seen this on version 28 or is this on 25?

I always turn down the brightness of the screen for the backlight to be almost off so the my devices last more than 8 hours. I like the update they got in my store recently you hear an audible beep when the scanner sled is initialized so you know when you can use it, helps troubleshoot in my mind. Although I'm not sure anyone at my store noticed that besides me.

I'd consider this "loafing" on the job. Lazy a** people.

Ok as a one time to check out the

I noticed, still takes way to long.

I recently discovered that by closing MyWork and reopening it usually fixes the low battery non-scanning problem instead of doing a full reboot. Of course, this becomes pointless the lower the battery gets.

Using 28, and I was having the same issue. Scanner is working fine....low battery pops up, scanner stops working.

Strangely though, clicking the "Person/Work" icon on the top left resets it. Scanner started working after tapping the button.

Good point, I kind of forgot about this one, but yes if you are having trouble with the scanner go to the settings page in addition to giving you the status and battery life it will also attempt to re-initialize the scanner. Obviously still not a great solution, but it may be helpful in the meantime as apposed to quitting and starting the app again.

What will Airwatch be replaced with? A new MDM application? Anything?

Let me rephrase that, Airwatch will still be running on the back end, but there will be a new in-house Target application that will replacing the front-facing current version of Airwatch.

Two things really quick:

1. Now that myDevices have been in use for awhile, are stores experiencing issues with the battery life of the Honeywell Sled/Scanner?

For example:
a. Sled battery is charging slower
b. Sled battery is discharging faster when in use
c. Sled battery no longer charges
d. Sled does not scan unless battery is removed/re-inserted
e. iPod no longer properly displays sled battery life, but unit is still functional and scans
f. Sled charges the scanner battery, but no longer charges the iPod

2. Prototype allocation of PDA's and myDevices are being looked at on a case-by-case basis when a store brings it to attention and are receiving additional devices now (specifically PDA's, but also iPod's.) Your STL must bring it up though and work through the channels to get it addressed. Some of the larger stores that had an allocation of 17 PDA's and 35 myDevices are receiving upwards of an additional 10+ PDA's and 10+ iPod's. Again, case-by-case basis, your results may vary.

I have an issue with BCODE. When I click See All Options > Any BCODE it prints one ticket and asks how many more I need. However regardless of how many more I request it only gives me one additional ticket. Am I doing something wrong here or is this a bug?

When I was trying to use BCODE on the mydevice earlier today, no matter if I selected UPC with quantity or UPC with date, the printer would only print a standard barcode. Is this intended or a bug?

The summer software update is needed to add the date, the ios update only installed half. Check redwire for your install date.

The how many more tickets was a bit touchy for me, but it printed two or five if I asked.

Anyone else with the newest update think in stocks could be faster...? Or is it just me. Like I'm tempted to use the PDA on Tuesday to RSCH.

Yes its pace is slow and makes it impossible to go at a decent pace.

The waiting for the scanner to come on line is the biggest time waster about these things. It is one of many frustrations about them. That needs to be instant, not 20 seconds later if at all. That screen comes up, that scanner needs to be ready at the same time.

It looks bad to a guest when you say "Yes I can scan that for you and - nothing, more nothing and more nothing," cause you equipment is taking its sweet time.

100% agree with everything.

The unit I had today, didn't charge from the previous night. It had a green light on the unit, when I grabbed from the holder. The unit lasted for 3 hours, it died when I was helping a guest.
@Sarakiel

i turned the brightness down to 25 %, and it lasted the whole 8 hours, with a lot of use using "TOSS" "STOW" "ORDER" "BCODE" ... so i am liking that they can last with the proper charge and keeping the brightness down.

Now, if i can only find a walkie that can last 8 hours and those walkie batteries, TMs always put them in the charger backwards, damn.

Anyone else's myDevice now making this irritating noise when ready? It just started at our store and it does it to everybody. I'm assuming maybe it's an app update but even the AP-ETL was like "Is your device making this horrible freaking noise too?" As if the myDevice wasn't annoying enough they just found a way to make it 10 times worse.

Does it play anytime you unlock the screen or reboot it and is just a little jingly noise? That's just the "scanner is ready" alert. If it's something less frequent and sounds more like a "computer freaking out" bad sound, I don't know what that is but I'd guess it's a "noo you're trying to scan too early" alert. I don't hear it very often though.

Anybody else use the "show promo signs" feature of the MyDevices to look what signs are missing and print them? And have you been getting weird results when creating sign batches from that? Because our ad setup today used that feature heavily and we got some weird results. We're talking the batches coming up with paper, display-type 3x5s for SD cards and bike locks or unnecessary 7x11s (pretty sure that batch included the 3x3s for the same product too) Best of all, an endcap with some giftcard/special purchase deal where it first printed off all the 3x3s I needed then (before I cancelled the print job) it tried to print off what I'm guessing was a 7x11 for each 3x3 sign. In retrospect I only needed just a 7x11 for that endcap but still, what the hell?

Apparently this wasn't an issue last Sunday so I'm wondering if it's update-related; we got our latest update in the last week or so.

This let's you know the scanner is ready. It can be changed or turned off.

^^^so much this!! Then add in all the times you have to close, then open the app to get it to work OR have to reboot the device!! Arrggggggghhh. Ain't nobody got time for this crap.

That's what I figured but people are too stupid or simply don't care at my store so it stays on.
It doesn't bother me in the least. It may be annoying to wait for the scanner to be ready to scan, but I can now mark when it "should" be ready to go. If its still not I know to escalate to double-tap/swipe to close and try again.
