MEGATHREAD Target myDevices

Oh I never asked, anyone have sled issues anymore? If your device has v28.41 you shouldn't be having issues anymore (all devices SHOULD have it, but I know there are always some that fall through the cracks and need to be manually updated, if you are on 28.40 you will still have the issues)
You know, I looked on our report and saw that about 3 iPods were now not compliant on myWork so I updated them and just today I thought, I haven't had scanner issues in about two days. Thank you!!!!! And a thanks for the REDwire alert/scanner reinitialization, too.

I can never get the Sign Out button in myWork to actually log me out. I can tap all I want, but nothing happens.

Only way I've been able to log out is by opening up Redwire and doing it from there (yes, I'm one of those odd TMs who always logs off when done).

Oh I log off, too. I don't want my name under anyone else's screw ups or end up losing a device and it's still under my name. I had that happen to a TM and I was following up about it with her, turns out she had left earlier that day but it was still under her name and someone else was just scanning away and ended up leaving it in the fitting room closet for days. Log out people!

I think the issue is if you're in research mode. When I switched out of that, I was able to log out.

Copy and paste would be beautiful. I was running through a long list of items that all had the same 5 starting digits.

Yes, I may be lazy, but C&P would be better than constantly typing it in

Either that, or being able to revise a previous search (button that adds the selected previous search back to the bar for editing)

To that extent... Perhaps a simplified DPCI search toggle to bring up the numerical keyboard instead of the QWERTY one. Most of the DPCIs I seem to enter include about a million 1s and 0s (which are on either edge of the QWERTY keyboard and right next to the screen frame).

@OtherGuy you must love visiting this thread for the bazillion requests.

I found that ours only work in the "None" mode, not research.. I switch from research to None and the logoff button works all of a sudden.. Might be worth a try.. I log out of my equipment too, so when they find it smashed or stolen I was not the last one logged on to it.. :)

We've been getting a lot of "Something's gone wrong" errors when trying to log into MyWork. And sometimes, the keyboard gets stuck over the error pop-up so you can't even press the "Quit" or "Try again" buttons. It seems to happen at random, and the only way we've been able to get past it is to have a specific ETL handle the MyDevice (not even do anything, just hold the MyDevice - it's weird and creepy).

Not sure if this is possible, but if we're wishing for things...

What about a "locate mydevice" function. Like "locate my iPhone" or "locate my iPad". We have a few that have been missing for a while. What if they're in a Waco in the BR or in someone's drawer in the office? Or it may have been taken from the store, it's hard to know. When devices start to seem scarce, this would be an invaluable tool. Maybe just an app on the PMT iPad? Just a thought.

Run the report on who signed them out last & asked what happened to them.

I just go in the TSC and start going through drawers of people who are not here.. Amazing the things you find.. I don't recommend this though, or have someone with you to be a witness.. But my old TL would do this when people used to hide equipment. We busted the POG TL cause he would grab equipment for his team and then forget to tell them. So they would clean out the cabinet. Asshole.. So that is why we raid drawers.. You just have to really know who is working and who is not working.. And desperate for equipment..

The report is terrible. First, it lists all Apple devices, including registry devices, iPads, seamless service, ect. Then lists them by the crazy-long serial numbers, which are a pain to cross-reference with the list of "our numbers". Finally, it doesn't list names on the main page like the old equipment tracking, you have to click on each serial number to get the info.

Then, if you've done all this work, you find the TM in question, and they'll likely say they turned it in or handed off to another TM. And now we're coaching the people who forget to sign off instead of the people who lose or hide equipment, and we're still short devices in the end.

How satisfying would it be to hit "find mydevice" and that TLs desk goes off pinging like the 4th of July! :)

I'll add that even if you sign out, there's no guarantee someone else will sign in before the device is lost. I've set mine down before when doing my usual routine, without signing in, and when I returned from filing logs, it was gone. The device wasn't lost, but if it had been, it would flag the user who logged out last.

@OtherGuy Can we please get some kind of filter in place so you're not able to add expiration dates to departments that don't have edible things? Today I had to check the date on Back to the Future (hahaha) and plastic shelf liner. AFAIK, Departments 058 and 002 should never have expiration dates so I think the simple solution would be to prevent those from being added.

@OtherGuy, my other da shipped the dead unit back to csc. The other units not should any x on the left side. I will ck the settings option on Sunday. My etl's are watching me, currently. It's a payroll thing.

Ok, I'll double check in the morning ;)

Also, I came up with another feature for the wishlist. It would be great if we could copy and paste into the myWork search bar. I had to complete a recall on Redwire and it took me like 3 app toggles to finally get the correct DPCI into myWork so I could see what I was pulling. It would also come in handy for helping guests with the Target app.
I think we could look at that.

So when will you guys start making improvements to the REDwire app. Poor thing is just... crap.... @OtherGuy
Nothing huge for that soon, it's made by a 3rd party vendor and I'm guessing long term we will have to rebuild the app ourselves, but even that hasn't been finalized.

I think the issue is if you're in research mode. When I switched out of that, I was able to log out.
I tested the new version being released in a few weeks here and that looks to be working there. Surprised I never heard of that until now, but I guess that just goes to show how little people log off ;)

There isn't a really great way to do this, as the field literally has to change to a numeric only field to do this. So you'd need something like two different search buttons. (It's extra frustrating as in a native app you can have a QWERTY+10 digit number pad keyboard which would be perfect here)

And I like coming here as I'm always looking for improvements. If the apps were absolutely perfect and we didn't have any requests for new functionality then I'd be out of a job :)

iPods don't have GPS, so location wise you'd really only be able to tell if they were inside or outside of Target. Or are you more just thinking of having a sound play like in the "olden days" where you'd "page" your wireless home phone?

I'll look, but I don't see this one happening as even if we did that people can enter dates for items in departments that don't have expiration dates. The only upside would be that we could just get rid of a UI element on the screen.

Kind of an odd request, but I wish we could add notes to items, or some way to indicate the item has a temporary location. We've been flexing a lot of PTM lately, and when it inevitably shows up in reshop later its a pain to track it down.

I'm sorry, you kind of confused me here. I just want it harder (or impossible, impossible would be nice) to add expiration dates to things that don't expire. Today's SDA had a piece of activewear and it just seems pointless to me to have a standard-date-audit for something that doesn't have a date.

Can't you just add a button next to the spyglass? Just like a white square with a red DPCI. I think having this feature would be super helpful for people with sausage fingers like mine.

Sorry, I was rambling, the short answer is it's not possible for us to eliminate these items. At best we could partially eliminate them, but very poorly at that. So no matter what TMs will be able to give dates to items that shouldn't have them, that of course falls on the TMs to not put in "joke" dates. As long as TMs don't do that, you won't see them show up in SDA.

We'll look at what we can do.
